The Bulldogs have taken the practice field at Fresno State.

The freshmen (with a sprinkling of older players) have taken the field first and the veterans will come out at about 10:40 a.m.

All practices will be open to fans until Aug. 10. After the scrimmage that day, practices will be closed.

Today's about learning for the inexperienced folk. From the players to the camera operators, to the equipment guys (my man Eddie hit the field running today. Most of the younger players didn't do that), the inexperienced guys are learning how practice will run as a Bulldog.

Pat Hill was the first to walk on the pristine grass this morning at 8:40 a.m. He raved about the condition of the field, and he was absolutely correct. The field is two tones of a beautiful green.

"You almost hate to mess it up," he said.
