Fresno State No. 9 hitter Jordan Ribera hit a solo home run to start the third inning, connecting on the first pitch he saw for a shot in the left, center-field wall.
Ribera came into the game hitting .198 with 4 homers, 15 RBIs and 11 runs in 86 at-bats. He has the potential to become a good hitter some day but has struggled to identify and hit offspeed pitches. But, Ribera has shown more discipline at the plate over the past two weeks. He drew two walks Sunday against North Carolina and also was 1 for 1.
A shot by Danny Muno hits Georgia pitcher Trevor Holder on the leg, which delays the game for seven minutes.
But Holder is able to retire Gavin Hedstrom and Erik Wetzel to make it through the inning, with the game tied 1-1.
