Jake Floethe almost provided a productive inning. Instead, he lasted just 2/3 of an inning after he allowed a hit then issued a walk on full count.

Then with runners on first and second and two outs, Floethe surrendered an RBI single to one of the weakest sticks in the Georgia lineup with Joey Lewis (.253) coming through with with a shot right field to bring in Bryce Massanari from second. Fresno State right fielder Steve Detwiler fired a throw from right field, but the ball simply was dragging on the grass a bit too long to get to Detwiler, and his throw to catcher Ryan Overland was just a tad too late.

Lefty specialist Kris Tomlinson replaced Floethe and ends the inning by inducing an out. Fresno State trails 2-1.
