Driver, team or manufacturer?
So NASCAR fans, do you root solely for a favorite driver, a series team or any driver based on the manufacturer?
What I'm really asking here is where is your loyalty based? Do you see racing as more of a team sport, like football or baseball, or an individual sport? If your favorite driver is say Tony Stewart, but you can't stand the fact that he now drives a Toyota and no longer a Chevrolet, are you still in complete support? Is this similar to a Raiders fan that hates the Chargers can no longer root for the former Raider now playing on the Chargers?
If you're a person that likes only Chevrolets, do you care which driver or team wins, as long as it's one of the Chevrolet drivers? Maybe you like the Hendrick Motorsports team but can't possibly root for a win by the Richard Childress Racing team.
Also curious, how many wins do you think Toyota will get this season in Sprint Cup? If the ratio of wins by one team or manufacturer continues to one-sided, such as last season with Chevrolet, are you interested in keeping up with the season?
Sound off...

I am the team and manufacturer type of race fan. I have a couple drivers that are current favorites, Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle, but overall it's all about Ford. I root only for Fords and Ford drivers. If and when a Ford driver moves to any other brand, he is no longer on my team.
I didn't like it when Toyota came to NASCAR and still don't. I personally hope they NEVER win in NASCAR, but with Gibbs Racing it's pretty likely they will win several.
If Chevy drivers dominate the season like last year, I'll become less and less interested in the sport and suffer longer between football seasons.

My answer is both, driver and manufacturer! Of course, the driver is who you get to know, I like the driver, how he drives, his personality, etc. I am also a Chevy fan.
I have been an Earnhardt fan since the 80's and still am, Chevy and Earnhardt go together. Now my driver is Dale,Jr. I respect that when he changed teams he said he would only drive for a Chevy team.
It is painful when your driver has a less than stellar season, but as a fan you have to stick with them, otherwise what kind of fan are you?
