Fresno State's game at New Mexico State Saturday might make or break this season.
The Bulldogs lost at Utah State Sunday in a stinker and find themselves tied for first with Boise State in the WAC women's basketball race. Boise State, however, won't lose another game.
That puts all the pressure on the Bulldogs to keep pace, or at least nail down second place for an easier road to the WAC Tournament final.
It starts in Las Cruces against New Mexico State, which again will host the WAC Tournament. The Aggies reached last year's final and lost to Boise State. Fresno State could make a bold statement Thursday with a victory, proving it can win in Las Cruces and giving the Aggies something to think about when the teams meet again five days later at Save Mart Center.
If the Bulldogs split with the Aggies, it's likely second place will come down to the final regular-season game at Nevada, one of the toughest places to play in the WAC.
