Thoughts of the day:
** The Selma student body support for the Bears' home-court 48-39 loss to Immanuel Friday was the best I've seen this season -- Duke and Stanford type stuff, only in black and orange.
** Marty Martin email response continues to flow in near-landslide defense for the fired Clovis West football coach. Meanwhile, there's fairly strong sentiment to bring back Randy Blankenship, the current Madera coach, who went 90-14 with four section titles at Clovis West from 1991-98. But it won't happen: "You dont apply for a high-powered job in Clovis Unified," Blankenship said Monday. "They call you. And nobody's called me."

Andy, Thanks for your coverage last Friday night. We had many compliments of the enviornment, and atmosphere. To see a student section that live and electric in a high school venu is what makes high school fun. There is no limit to good clean sportsmanship. Thanks again.
When has CW ever made a head coach hire in football that wasn't some sort of "big name"? Randy Blankenship was as dominate a coach in the Sacramento area as you can be without a championship. The Elk Grove the same. From what I understand Hartigan was hired because "he coached Carson Palmer in high school", or was that someone else in between?
Someone said on another post that they need a NAIA level coach, this is wrong. The problem is that folks seem to think that CW needs to be run like a college program, they need that "big name". What they need is a coach who knows what he's doing and how to deal with parents. It isn't the most luxurious job, it is in Fresno after all. The SMART thing would be to hire Randy Blankenship, hell the way things were going he never should have left in the first place. Clovis West though probably won't do it though, they'll continually attempt to sign some big name coach, get snubbed and then once again have to accept a good coach from a much smaller school who needs time to adjust to this level of play...only to fire him after the season is over.
I don't know if the person running the show over there is some sort of love child between Al Davis and Danny Snyder, but it sure seems like it.
