Random thoughts after exhibition vs. Western Washington

-First-game jitters made Fresno State look anemic early against Division II for Western Washington. This team can’t afford to play bad basketball. Not right now. Some teams can play bad and trail by five at halftime. Not this team, not right now… Not after Ira Graham (Western PG) leads his offense past, around and through Fresno State during the first half.

-Dwight O’Neil is back and wants to get to the rim and free throw line. And he’s not even in tip-top shape yet.

-A mix of perimeter scorers, penetrators, and defensive-minded players makes for a healthy lineup. While Alex Blair isn’t shy about shooting, he never forgets to play tough post defense.

-After watching Harvey practice for the last month, he could be this team’s leading scorer. After watching his first-game jitters, we learned that Harvey will shoot, shoot and shoot until he gets on track. Eddie Miller started off last season the same way, missing a bunch of shots… then he went on a tear.

-Shawn Taylor, James Tchana and Brandon Webster all made a couple of nice plays Sunday, but nobody stood ahead of the others.
