Ellard remembers Padilla

I spoke with Fresno State legend Henry Ellard about former Bulldogs coach Bob Padilla, who died Oct. 15. Padilla recruited Ellard from Hoover High and coached him for a season before Jim Sweeney returned.

Said Ellard, "I remember him being a very caring person, genuine and up front. He was very caring about the person and the player."

Ellard also chatted a little about the St. Louis Rams. He's the receivers coach for the Rams, who've started the season 0-8. They have a bye this week, though, a chance to heal the many injuries that have hit them.

"We just have to stay the course," he said. "I've never been on a team as a player where you lose 1, 2 guys at a time."
