Did not look too good at the end, but we won. Matthews is a stud. I'm wondering if this game doesn't give him a starting role, what will?
I think our concerns are all the injuries. The young guys did well on saturday. The next three weeks will be some good game situations for the young pups. Hopefully they learn fast and strap it up for Boise St.
By the way, Clifton Smith did hold on to the ball and made me a very happy bulldog fan. Good job boys.
I think the concern is not to overlook Idaho. I think the fans are looking forward to Boise and that's fine...but Idaho played USC tough and they will be pumped for us no doubt. Our young guys have had some success...lets see how they handle it.
Another new concern surfaced today. Jason Shirley is no longer on the team. My brother in law and I were able to hang out with him a few months back, through an aquaintence, and he is a different person now. Hopefully he gets his life back together.
This is about the third or fourth suspension this year. I wonder if there is anyway to monitor these guys. Not just for the team but for the safety of the players and everyone else.
The 'Dogs better not overlook Idaho. While their record and history indicates we should beat them handily, our own history is one of being beaten by teams we expected to walk over.
Idaho will have us highlighted as a big game--and a winable game at that.
We just need to go in, take them seriously, and play Bulldog Football for the win, IMHO.
I don't think any Bulldog football game should be considered a win before it's played, even when the opponent is Idaho. Over the past two-plus seasons, there have been too many letdowns against inferior opponents so I won't chalk this one up as a victory until after it's over.
Five suspensions in one football season is a very high number, and it's starting to resemble basketball during the Tark years.
I agree with everyone else who believes we need to focus on the next opponent as opposed to overseeing some low luster football program within the WAC. I, like most fans, get excited about playing the big teams like Boise and Hawaii but the reality is that the team must remain focused on just playing the next team with respect. I remember when we were ranked 8th in the nation during the David Carr year and Boise recently joined the WAC. My first thought was, "where did this hee-haw school come from?" To my surprise, this hee-haw school defeated us at home and has been winning the WAC crown for the past 5 years. Its time to bring the WAC crown to Fresno and the only way it could be done is by staying true to our game and treat every game as a championship game. National recognition begins by winning your conference.
I agree it's time to bring the WAC crown to Fresno.
The Bulldog's is going to have their hands full with San
Jose State. They have to stop turning the ball over.
They must stay positive and believe they can win.
