Boise State took advantage of a huge third-down conversion advantage to defeat the host Fresno State football team 34-21 Friday night.
The victory improves Boise State to 4-0 in the WAC and 7-1 overall. Fresno State drops to 4-1, 5-3.
The Bulldogs host Utah State at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Once again, Boise owns Fresno State. Does it really matter who is coaching on the other side from Pat Hill? Dirk Koetter, Dan Hawkins, now Chris Peterson. And didn't Boise join the WAC just 5 years ago after kicking around the Big Sky Conference? Maybe Fresno can win a WAC championship when Boise skips to the Mountain West or Conference USA - like all the other respectable former WAC schools - BYU, SDSU, Air Force, etc. Say, are Bulldog fans still pounding beers and throwing screw-drivers (and metal tools, not vodka/oj's) at visiting coaches? That's class.
BOISE FANS JUST DON'T GET IT! We play a bowl game in beautiful Boise and the Bronco fans come out in droves to support us. "Yeh, we'll show them..." So, how do we respond? "Hey, let's throw stuff at their players and coaches when they walk in our stadium, and then let's do it during the game... yeh, we really showed them! Oh, and get this: why don't we yell at them with something like "er, take your potatoes and go home..." Now that is genius. You know, I'm beginning to think that us FRESNO STATE FANS STILL DON'T GET IT!
Boise was just better on both sides of the line. Better O-line and the loss of Jason Shirley killed us... Boise is more balanced and coach Hill once again...too damn conservative...
What is it with Fresno State Football fans, "NO CLASS" is an understatement to the max! Booing is normal, but they spit, scream vulgarieties sling the 4 letter word and throw things at players, fans and coaches from Boise. Such display is so uncalled for. Hey what can we say, we have a fantastic coaching staff and players and fans that are supportive of their BSU Broncos...what was shown last night (and previous visits to your stadium) such display of lower class ignorance. It's obvious your fans have a lot to learn about the sport and do not have what we have here in Boise...it's called Boise Pride and Class...we are all a part of BOISE NATION!! Such display of "no spirt" jealously or pride was so obvious last night as it's been whenever we've visited your stadium. It was all pretty pathetic....We enjoy our sport and take pride in what our coaches and players have accomplished here in Boise! When Fresno comes to Boise next year...they will again see what PRIDE and CLASS is all about...! All I can say is grow up Fresno and show some class...how degrading!
I saw a sad pattern from my dog zone seats, third and long lets run for four yards that'll get you a first down. third and short, well let's try a pass that is into coverage that Brandstater isn't capable of. Wow no wonder the third down conversion percentage was ridiculously bad. Everyone in my section knew a run was coming on third and long, its gotten old, mix it up a little guys. Sadly I think the Brandstater experiment should end. Boise was glad to try and let Fresno try to pass on them and focus on the run. Look at the stats then look in the mirror guys.
Fresno State fans are amazing. They will go to great lengths to avoid accepting the obvious: The perennial problems with the football program are not the fault of the current quarterback or any particular players. The persistent inability to win important games belongs to only one person: Pat Hill. Head coaches are responsible for the performance of their teams. They hire their staff, recruit their players and coach their team. Why on earth would Mr. Hill not be responsible for the performance of his teams? Yet again this year, a Pat Hill coached team did not get it done. Yet again, as in every past year, he talks about such things as narrowing the gap and getting it done next year. Why continue to believe in him? If insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result, then surely continuing to expect a different outcome from Mr. Hill must be a form of insanity. Why should next year be any different? Pat Hill teams appear to suffer from the same inconsistencies every year. Odd that similar problems do not seem to afflict Boise State? The only logical answer is that the difference has something to do with the head coach and his coaching staff. How could it be otherwise? The head coach remains while players come and go. If Fresno State is getting beaten, Pat Hill is being out coached. In the real world, we are all only as good as our performance. We either get the job done or we don't. This is no different for head coaches. Look at it differently: Would you continue to employ an employee who didn't get his job done and offered you a laundry list of excuses? I think not. Yet, Fresno State cannot seem to divorce itself from Mr. Hill. Why are we so afraid that we cannot do better? Mr. Hill is not the only coach on the planet. Other schools are not fearful of change. Boise State, for instance, has beaten Mr. Hill with two different coaches. Replacing Mr. Hawkins with Mr. Petersen did not cause Boise State to quake in its boots. Just what is it about Mr. Hill's record (one co-championship (1999) in nine full seasons; two for four in bowl game wins, and 1-6 against Boise State) makes us continue to believe Pat Hill to be the saviour of Fresno State football? Are we being selfish? Are we holding Pat Hill back? Obviously, the grass is greener for him out there in NFL land or at some BCS school, where he is sure to find the success that has so eluded him at Fresno State. Pat, we just can't stand in your way any longer, buddy. It's time for us to let you go.
Once again Fresno State is in the lower class of football. Not even can they win the big games against top 25 teams they can't win the own conference the WAC. Fresno State fans the lowly class that showed no respect to the Boise players, coaches and fans. When will Fresno realize that Boise State is in another class of football than Fresno State is. They talk about the bowl games that they have gone to. When was the last time that Fresno played in a big bowl game? I will not go to another game that Fresno plays in the fans on national TV once again proved what they are really made of. Boise State you are a class act, Fresno State needs to look at.
