The Bulldogs will score some points--probably lots of them. The Broncos defense has been exposed the past two weeks. But, the key to beating Boise State right now is to somehow stop their dynamic offense. They score on the ground and through the air almost at will. They are prone to untimely penalties and turnovers, however. Win those battles and the Bulldogs can prevail.

BOISE STATE ALUM here and yes this will be a great test for you Bulldogs but once again BOISE STATE is too talented to be denied. Fresno State is too young of a team at this point to complete with the seasoned Broncos. I predict another BSU BLOWOUT!

Boise is vulnerable this year - anybody who watched the Washington or Nevada game knows it. Their d-line will not be able to stop our running game, plus all of the new multiple receiver sets and formations will make it even harder on them. Congratulations to the team and coaching staff for being so focused in the face of a great deal of adversity this year. I hope the Bulldog fans show up in force, loud and proud, and show the nation who has the real 12th man.

GO DOGS!!

At this point in the season this is the pivotal game of the season for both teams. Boise State's offense continues to thrive even when its leading rusher is sidelined. However, the defense has raised a few eyebrows over the last two games after being ranked sixth in the nation going into the Nevada game. Advantages with Fresno State is the home field and a strong rushing attack against a suspect Boise State defensive effort against the rush over the past two games. Coaching for each team is excellent. This could come down to the final seconds with the team that has the ball at game's end.

I think the thing that sticks out in my mind is that we need to play well for 60 minutes and not the last 30 minutes. We do good the second half but not the first. Our team also needs to keep their composure and not let emotion get them best of them. Other than that our defence is playing well and our rushing game is awsome. The passing game isn't doing too bad either.

As for the fans. We need to take the day off so we can show up to the stadium on time. Make a day of it. If there's a game that our dogs need us, it's this one. Let's support them by showing up and wearing black. It was kind of dissapointing saturday not to see the stadium full. Support your dogs. See you at the game.

I noticed the posting by the confident Boise allum above. And, just last week, Marty Tadaman, BSU defensive back, was quoted in the Boise paper as saying that if Broncos and Hawaii play their game, then they should both be able to beat the rest of the league fairly handily.
The bottom line is, there is not a lot of respect for Fresno State in Boise. Even though our BCS victories dwarf theirs, the number players FSU has in NFL compared to BSU also much greater, but we have not done well in head to head with them, and done as well in the WAC. Obviously, Fresno has been guilty of pointing for the Oregons, USCs, etc, instead of just focusing on the next opponent at hand. That is the only thing I think Boise has done better than Fresno. I am not convinced Boise has had the best players on the field these last few years, except for last year. It sounds like Pat Hill and his young troups have acquired that kind of focus though. If Fresno plays prepares well, executes well, and plays with enthusiasm normally reserved for BCS schools, then we can give BSU a taste of their own medicine, and I can where my Fresno State allum shirt in Boise with pride.

I agree that Nevada exposed Boise State's defensive line play. They did it with precise execution of every play and the Bulldogs have that potential. We need to adopt a little of the Boise operation MO and ....attack...attack...attack! Special teams play is the swing factor and we are do for some blocked punts or field goal attempts. Watch out for the gimmick plays by Boise. Coach Hill...empty the playbook on these guys if you have to.

Get to the stadium fans and don't leave early. Our Dogs need you big time!!

I feel like taking some jabs at the Boise Faithful. They are always so willing to tell us what they are gonna do and how they are gonna do it.
I heard Boise will have to play without Ian Johnson, and I know that the Dogs are playing with pride again.
Anybody know if Boise has a newspaper?
I was thinking of sending a message to them attached to one of my pigeons.
The message would say "Not this year!"
GO DOGS!

LETS GO DOGS!!! Remember guys and gals get to the stadium early and leave late.

AND DON'T FORGET TO WEAR YOUR BLACK. THIS IS THE BLACKOUT BOISE GAME.

BSU Faithful here!
I predict Fresno will win this game. Our team is VERY young and our defense leaves much to be desired.
Next year will be a different story. All good things come to those who wait! You can't stay on top all the time.
BSU has dominated the WAC since joing it. Fresno should worry about winning the WAC before they worry about playing with, and DEFEATING the BIG DOGS (OSU).
Fresno has hung with some good teams, but fail to win. Coming close doesn't count. That is the difference between the two teams. BSU is what Fresno would like to be.

We are Boise State fans, and go to all the games. This should be a a fine game. I have noticed that the Bulldogs are improving plenty. The Broncos have shown their weaknesses that we fans did not see at the beginning of the season. If you can take advantage of the many freshman that we use, you could win. Our Dline might stop your running attack, but you need to stop a very good 1st year senior quarterback. I think Pat Hill is a great coach. Our coaches are very young , but we trust them to give you guys a great game. You will need to score a lot of points. GOOD LUCK

Bill and Bruce in Boise, myself, living in Boise, it is easy to know what BSU bring to the table. But if you are bragging about being young, you better look again. I don't have the exact numbers, but I seriously doubt BSU is even close to playing the number of freshman and sophmores Fresno is playing. Part of this was necessitated by FSU losing 8 starters to season ending injuries or suspensions, but a lot of it is due to these youngsters are talented and have GAME!! So, this group of Dogs are only going to get better in the next few years. As far as BSU being what Fresno would like to be, I don't think so. As well as BSU has done against Fresno, their scheduling does not measure up to what other teams in the WAC play, including FSU. Name me one BCS school that BSU has beaten on the road, other than Oklahoma, which was at a neutral site. Fresno has played two top 25 teams on the road, and has Kansas State at home. Fresno State has more BCS victories than and non-BCS school. I believe Fresno has defeated 8 of the 10 Pac10 schools, if my memory serves me right. Fresno State currently has more players in the NFL than any other non-BCS school. Pat Hill probably would not mind playing some of the easier schools Boise plays, but most of those schools won't play Fresno State. I wonder why?

Go BLUE! BSU!

I went to the Humanitarian Bowl the year Fresno played. (the year we played Louisville) We all wore red Fresno State shirts and cheered the Dogs on! Also did the same when Nevada played Miami last year! The point is that we all love our hometown teams, but most of these great kids will never see an NFL locker room. After we won the Fiesta Bowl last year, OK fans were saying the calls were all on our side, and we slid by with an undeserved win. Of course, I will be cheering for my Broncos Friday, but won't bawl and cry if we lose, like those Oklahoma fans did at the FB and also after their loss in Colorado. And the Dog fans didn't throw hissy fits last season; we have to lose in order to win. That said, I expect a great game on Friday!!

Well, its hard to talk any smac to a great WAC opponent like Fresno State. If I wasnt a Boise State Alum and season ticket holder I would be a die-hard fan of Fresno. Pat Hill is a great coach and one with a tremendous amount of class. The entire football program is CLASS! But I am a loyal Bronco Fan and I predict the Broncos in a very tight game, possibly a Nevada Bsu game. Good luck to you guys, and may the best team win. Its easy to talk smac about Hawaii, and New Mexico State because their coaches have no class. But you cant say the same for Fresno or their coaches. Again good luck, cant wait untill Friday night. GO BRONCOS!!!!!!

One Bronco faithful here with much respect for the Fresno program. We each field young teams this year and the Broncos have already shown they are not immortal (Washington). I expect a war. The Bulldogs are at home. The Broncos play lights-out on ESPN. Another classic in the making? Turn-overs will be key. I look for: 45-42 ... Bronos by 3 pts!

Boise Fans?
Can we be real....Blue Turf and Blue Jerseys?
Maybe we should dress in Camouflage or some other cryptic coloration scheme in order to get the edge up on the opposition.
Then how about pretending that we are a mid major continue to play a bunch of sorry teams and sneak up on the one Big team at the end of the year....Yeah, i said it.
Next years Bulldog schedule already features a very good CINCI team as well as a trip to UCLA....
Boise be a leader and "play up!"
This weekend you can "say hello to my little friend" RYAN MATHEWS!

We in Boise have plenty of respect for the Fresno State
program and for coach Hill. Any BSU fan with a lick of sense circles the Fresno State game every year and is always wary of the Bulldogs. Yeah you had a down year last
year. Again, any BSU fan that follows the WAC knows that was an aberration. To win the WAC you gotta beat Fresno, and probably Hawaii, although the "Rainbow Warriors" might have a rude awakening in Reno.
As for friday night I think the first team to 50 wins.
GO BRONCOS!
Rob A. in Boise
a
State game every year

I think all of us have learned that schedule, or history has very little to do with this strange year. The best team will win next Friday, and the team that loses will NOT win the WAC. All Bronco fans are amazed that they use so many freshmen, but they do the job. We will continue to have a great program. Our very small stadium makes it a problem to draw great teams, here. Besides, great teams don't seem to want to play in front of our screaming fans. ESPN has helped us become famous. Love those recruits.

There were a couple of nice articles covering Bulldogs in today's Idaho Statesman. While Boise fans chip in and are now saying nice things about FSU and Pat Hill, I will reciprocate and say the Boise State football program is a class act from the coaches, to their players to their fans. The only thing I don't think is very high class is the color of the football field. They love it, its theirs, so let them do what they want as long as NCAA approves, but I still not so sure it correlates with a Big Time college football.
I have been treated quite respectively by BSU fans, even when I probably shouldn't be when sitting in their stadium, not in the Fresno State section, and trying to compensate for the noise of 35000 fans rooting for the Broncos, in my cheering for Fresno State. I have a friend who is a recently retired NFL scout, and he has told me that there probably are not too more class programs than Fresno State, and Boise State. However, Boise State could use some humility lessons when it comes to WAC football, and here is hoping our Bulldogs can assist them in that manner.

Boise starts 6 freshmen and 3 sophmores... I'm not sure how that compares to Fresno. I have a ton of respect for Fresno... you guys play an incredible non conference schedule and do well in those games (I wish you would've gotten A&M). Boise SHOULD be able to put up points; I say SHOULD because this will be a very physical game and with Ian out, should Avery go down our running game would struggle. If Avery stays healthy we should run for alot of yards. Your running game should get a ton of yards, too unless our defense shows back up and stops it (they were able to stop the run in the 1st 4 games). Bottom line, this will be a great game and its nice to see Fresno back in the hunt for the WAC title. I wish the whole conference was as solid.
Good luck Dawgs and Go Broncos!!!

I guess I just look at the FSU vs BSU stats since BSU joined the WAC. The last five times we played, we beat FSU four times. It really doesn't matter how many games you have played against BCS teams; gotta win your own conference!! And let's not downplay the Fiesta Bowl game, where BSU was up for two ESPY awards, and won both of them. You have to admit that that was a game for the ages. I will always support our WAC teams at their Bowl games; and FSU fans should do the same! May the best team win on Friday.

This is what I would like to say about all the Boise State fans. They are great. Me and my buddies took a trip to see FSU play BSU at Bronco Stadium in 2004 when crazy hail came down, and it was one of the best trips of my life. Everybody treated us like we were their best friends. It was nice to know that people in Boise go to the games to have fun and not to cause trouble. As for your turf, is it true that seagulls have dove down into it thinking it was water? That's what I heard.

As for the game, throw all the stats out the window, they won't mean a thing in this years game. Both teams have a hunger for the WAC title and will not stop until they get it. Boise fans have a nice trip to Fresno and hopefully you're sitting in my section. See you at the game.

I love you guys. Ever since you beat Virginia here, I've been a bulldogs fan! I love watching you play but I hate it when WE have to face you. Good luck Fresno! I hope for a hard fought game and hopefully the Broncos can pull it off. If not, win out Bulldogs. I'll be cheering for you the whole way.

OK DOGS!
I almost bought that whole we love Fresno crap, and we respect you guys, and we love Pat Hill.
You want to know what they really think...Hit the Boise website and you can watch 3 plus minutes of the Broncos beating us on our own field. The soundtrack to the video has some song named superman...It implies that Boise is our Kryptonite and then it has some raunchy rap song complete with lyrics not fit for kids.
The real kicker was when they used clippings from our own FRESNO BEE to rub it in.
AND BOISE is supposed to be the Class of the WAC...Let's not forget these clowns openly asked the Mountain West to take them.
I say we beat them! We don't eat potatoes! And we remind them that they live in IDAHO!
NO DOGS DOWN!

I have to say each time we play you "Dawgs" we know its going to be a battle. your team is awesome and your coaches are great. This year should be a special battle considering the WAC implications.

Yes, we have had some problems with our rush D but so have fresno-Nevada gashed both teams with the rush- with that being equal I think the advantage geos to boise because are passing game has been consitent even in our loss to UW
so GO BRONCOS!!!

This should make you FSU fans happy! :-)

Rose Bowl presented by Citi
Jan. 1 / 4:30 p.m. Pasadena, Calif. ABC
*BCS vs. BCS (Big Ten Champion vs. Pac-10 Champion, if available)
Projection: Arizona State vs. Boise State

Just to clarify Chris Boston's comments, Nevada did not really "gash" FSU against the run. Yes, the stat sheet shows 211 yards rushing for UNR but a significant chunk of that came in the fourth quarter after we were ahead 49-20 and Pat Hill put in the 2nd/3rd string defense to avoid more injuries. Boise barely eked out a 4OT win at home (any by all rights probably should have lost) while Fresno State DOMINATED Nevada on their own home field (at homecoming). The score doesn't show the domination, but anyone who watched those first three quarters knows Fresno State OWNED Nevada that day. The 3 TDs were garbage touchdowns scored against our third string. Boise got lucky against UNR.

In order to appreciate winning, you have to experience losing. Granted, we (BSU) haven't done much of that since joing the WAC, but it WILL happen! It's a growing experience for our YOUNG team.
Speaking of young... watch number 27-Jeremy Avery... He is our future.
PLEASE!..... Friday night, treat the BSU fans with respect! Next year FSU plays here! We will do the same for you.
Coach Hill respects BSU... the fans should too.

Wow, Green V, I'm glad you laid things out so clearly for us. I guess there really is no reason to waste my valuable Friday night watching the game since Fresno State should probably win by 3 or 4 touchdowns without much effort.

Green V, your right I did not watch the game between the pack and dawgs but to say our win was lucky is crazy. We matched NV's play for play and our D-stepped up when it had too..The jest of my whole comment was even with our defense issue we have a much more balance team and we have proved that we can compete in a shootout if needed. I do not believe fresno can compete with us if this game turns into a scoring battle. We match your run, limit your special teams(kick off-punt return) play and pick apart your secondary. Nothing comes easy to Boisestate our guys work just as hard as any team in the nation, with fewer resources.

Hey Bruce in Boise, I tried you link. It shows West Virginia playing for national championship. What was your point?

WE GOT THE MILK CAN AND WE SURE THE HELL AINT GIVIN IT
BACK THIS YEAR!

BOISE---STATE
GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!

Good luck Bulldogs!! This should be a very fun game - and will be a solid test for both teams.
Boise by 7

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense..under-estimate the Broncos. Lets talk smack after we beat them.

"Hey Bruce in Boise, I tried you link. It shows West Virginia playing for national championship. What was your point?"

Point is, I guess we will see Fresno in the Humanitarian Bowl! LOL!!!
BTW... The same thing happened to BSU as did W. Virginia.... BC knows how to win in the last seconds of the game. WV had it won and choked.
30 minutes till game time! Good luck! ;-)

Good game FSU!
Good luck in Hawaii! I think you guys will be alright.
I will be rooting for you!

Fresno fans talk more mess than any group of fans...except maybe Oklahoma fans. Nice to see you put back in your place.

From a devout BSU fan: All in all, a good game last night - frankly, I'm surprised that BSU beat Fresno by as much of a margin as they did, because I KNOW how much the Bulldogs were up for this game... The difference - BSU's run defense FINALLY re-emerged, and Fresno's run defense continues to struggle. Also: point of note regarding BSU's numerous freshmen on the field: There is a BIG difference between HAVING to use freshmen / sophomores in key positions, versus being unable to DENY such youngsters playing time because they are just TOO GOOD and TOO SKILLED to keep on the bench (beating Oklahoma in a BCS game will do that for your recruiting...). Also, most BSU fans have tremendous respect for Fresno, frankly probably more than they do for Hawaii year in and year out. Best of luck to Fresno in the weeks ahead; I'd love to see BSU and Fresno St. #1 and #2 respectively in the WAC at the end of the season - GO BRONCOS!!

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

see ya next year!!
