Hector heading back to The Valley as FIBA experience ends

If you're a Fresno State fan, you hope Hector Hernandez left his dismal perimeter shooting at the FIBA Americas Championship.

Hernandez, playing for Team Mexico, appeared in all eight games, averaging 4.6 points and nearly four rebounds. But he shot just 21% on 3-pointers (3-for-14).

The competition level, though, was much higher than what he will face his senior season at Fresno State.

Overall, he did shoot 48% from the field and he got a jump start on training; Team Mexico was coached by Nolan Richardson, whose former teams at Arkansas where known for smothering defense.

Team Mexico finished seventh.

Last season, Hernandez, a native of Chihuahua, Mexico, shot 40% on 3-pointers. He is Fresno State's leading returning scorer (11.2)
