To rebound, or not to rebound

If not for this one fact, Fresno State coach Steve Cleveland would have been all smiles after last night's win against Montana State.

But he wasn't because his Bulldogs lost the battle of the rebounds. Actually, they were crushed.

Montana State nearly had as many offensive rebounds (27) as Fresno State had total rebounds (30). Montana State finished with an overall total of 48.

Center Ted Morris had 13 rebounds, including seven offensive.

Sure, Montana State wasn't skilled enough to do much with the rebounds. But that won't be the case later in the season, and that's why Cleveland said he would study the game film to figure out what went wrong.

Shawn Taylor was part of the struggle. He earned his first start -- Hector Hernandez was sidelined with an injured left shoulder.

Taylor had early problems getting to the ball. He had just two rebounds in 19 minutes. Alex Blair was the most active of the post players Wednesday night with five rebounds in 24 minutes.
