Just saw Denzel Washington's new movie, Deja Vu. He plays an ATF agent who travels back in time to prevent a murder. Along the way, he has a few feelings of deja vu as he backtracks over his own path.
As I walked out of the theather, I had my own moment in time. As I thought back to Tuesday night's Fresno State win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, I wondered if I'd seen that dreadful first half performance before. I had.
I think it was against Winston-Salem State in the season opener.
Just as AP poll voters started asking about Fresno State - following an impressive win last Friday at San Francisco - the Bulldogs played one of their worst first halves of the season and allowed Arkansas-Pine Bluff to hang close at the Save Mart Center.
Despite a 5-0 record, the Bulldogs are several weeks from putting everything together on defense.
If Fresno State's team is a cup, before Tuesday's game, I thought it was half-full. Now, I think it's half empty. Same amount of water, just different perspective.
Progress isn't progress if it reverts back to the former problems.
Montana State (Nov. 29) is the last powder puff team the Bulldogs will play for some time at the Save Mart Center.

Tomorrow, I'm heading home to New Orleans for some turkey and seafood gumbo, and later, to watch my alma mater, Southern University, destroy Grambling State in the Bayou Classic. See ya on Bourbon Street...
