Did anybody else catch the irony in the comment above? "dog's having an off season" is an understatement!!! off season should be that time between january and august. A bad season is one thing but an off season is another. The dogs are playing like these games don't matter, i mean running the ball EVERY first and second down, then a pass play 3 yards short of the sticks on third. To top that all off we're usually down double digits!!! Okay, so back to the topic...I hope Fresno can pull out an upset over Boise St. to keep their slim bowl chances alive. Truth be told...I predict 44-17, Boise wins on the smurf turf. As a side note, if the Bulldogs can't ruin Boise's season, I hope the bulldog fans and all WAC fans alike root for Boise to finish out the rest of the year undefeated.

Beat Boise State? Only in our wettest of wet dreams. Since I no longer live in Fresno, can anyone point me to a "FIRE PAT HILL" website?

We should have hired Jeff Tedford when we had the chance, and NEVER let him slip away. Now, we'll never get him back.

I can live with the outcome on Saturday. I was expecting a huge blowout. We either played better or they played worse, you pick. All I know is that Sean Norton played decent against the number one defense in the country. I just wish we could make the plays when we need to. Moore could have made that catch in the first quarter if he just would have extended his arms. I'm not saying that would have made a difference in the game, but who knows what it would have done for our morale.

As for Boise St., I think this will be another hard game. As of right now, their going to be in a BCS game. Hopefully we can get our first win against them in Boise. The only thing I can say bad about them is that their field ugly.

I just hope that since our season is ruined, we can ruin someone else's season. Oh yeah, Clovis West beat Clovis East. Go Eagles.

I'm Out.

Surprisingly, I think Fresno State may win against Boise. Boise has shown itself to be the class of the league, much to the chagrin of the Red Wave, but this time they may actually look past Fresno State. I saw some spirit in the 'Dogs during the LSU game that has been missing up to now, and I believe they have a chance to win, even in Smurfville.

Anyway, here's to beating Boise State; and if we don't I hop[e the Smurfs go undefeated and get a BCS bid. What a trying season.

Steve Burnes

Yes, I think the Bulldog's can upset Boise State, they need to get the QB to throw the ball down field to #85, #84,#1,#6,and #5. Get that big O-line moving and let D.Wright run outside and not so much inside. BOISE DB'S CAN NOT COVER, LET ME SAY THIS ONE MORE TIME, THEY CAN
NOT COVER. I THINK THAT IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE THEM RUN AND PASS ALL OVER BOISE.

GO DOG'S & PAT HILL

Fresno is always fun to play especially here in SMURFVILLE! My prediction...Fresno will put up a good fight at first but with ESPN here and the crowd the whole nation watching, JZ, Ian, and the rest of the crew will be playing their hearts out and hopefully it's bigger then Fresno's. Boise 44, Fresno 24. Go BRONCOS!!! woot woot

Last weeks Game against LSU was the best output of the season by the Dogs. I was also expecting a huge blowout by LSU but am not suprised on how the Dogs hung tough for at least a half from the toughest D in college football this season.

Every team goes through a tough streak and rebuilding years. This year should be no suprise to anyone. Coach Hill still has it and can still out coach half of the coaches out there.

I hope the Dogs do pull off the upset against Boise. They always seem to step it up for the big games and slack off in the crap games. That even happened in the Sweeney era.

Get it done!!

I'm hopeing Fresno can pull of the upset and beat Boise. If they play like they did last week I beleive they can. As for Boise they can finsih 12-0 this year and they still aren't going to a BCS game. They're 15th in the standings and who ahead of them do you think will lose. I don't think they'll finish in the top 10 even with a 12-0 season, they just don't have the strength of schedule.

It's nice to see Norton playing the position. It will be even nicer to see Boise getted WAC-ked. I agree that they can't cover the pass. I feel that in order for the Dogs to win they will have to get to the QB and stop the run. This I realize is a no brainer but I just don't see us winning if they can do what they want on offense.
Be Proud Bulldog Fans
NO DOGS DOWN!

Last time I checked, being beaten by 32 points is a BLOWOUT. But maybe Bulldog fans are now calling that a close game.
Norton did do well in a stadium half-empty. Smurf turf and not an empty seat will be a little different. Broncos already smell the Bulldog blood left behind when Colorado State took the dogs around the bush and beat them like strays. Now they're planning to lick it up on national TV. I don't remember Boise St. being 1-6 in 2001, so there is no comparison there.
By the way, Hawaii kicked butt in the Dog House and passed all over the secondary. They played on the Blue and were shown the door back to the islands. Which secondary struggled more? Yet again, the dogs had their tails between their legs.
Bulldogs thinking they can pull off the upset is like a toy poodle jumping and growling at an intruder. One quick smack and the growling will be done.

Listen Bulldog Critic, we all know over here in Fresno that it is going to be hard to beat Boise. We also know that a 32 point loss is a big margin, but for us this season, we do feel a little better this week than we did after the Hawaii game.

To defend our Bulldogs, we don't have the greatest team ever here but we have beat bigger teams with sub par athletes. Boise had all of theirs last year against Georgia, and still lost. You don't know what you'll get week in and week out, that's why you go out there and play. If the NCAA went according to what happened the last week, there would be no need to play the game and we would be sitting at home thinking witch direction to cut the grass next time.

By the way. I hope you don't live in Boise because you are making the community look bad. When I was over there two years ago when the Dogs played the Broncos', not one person over there said anything bad to me and my friends. Not even in passing did I hear any dumb remarks like yours. They welcomed us with open arms and wished us good luck for the rest of the season.

So what if we have a little hope for the next game, let us be. We don't tell people over there to stop wearing camoflauge as everyday attire. Come to think of it, they probably wear it to hide from you. Just leave us alone and hang out with your wife, or girlfriend, or boyfriend, who ever it is you hang out with.

Until next time chump

Good work william! That is showing fight for your team!
Stick to smack and leave personal attacks out of it.
No I don't live in Boise. I live in Louisville. As far as I know, there is not any camo going on here. Pretty hard to make this community look worse, unless we were Miami.

The bulldogs season may be all erased if we beat Boise St. Boise will remember us for the team that ruined their season chances for a BSC bowl game. They did it to us several years ago, now it is our turn to get revenge.

Fresno Finest's OUT!

For the most part BSU fans have great respect for FSU and even though the Bulldogs are having a nightmare season we fully expect the team play hard against our Broncos on The Blue.
As far as the game goes, FSU will have to play much better than they did against BSU to win next Wed. I expect the game to be a comfortable win for the Broncos but much strangers things have happened.
As far as the article goes, comparing the '01 Broncos to this year's Fresno squad is unfair to the '01 Broncos. BSU finished tied for 2nd in the WAC and we're a pass off a helmet against LaTech away from the WAC title. That was a good football team that started slowly with a soph QB named Dinwiddie against a tough schedule.
Best of luck to Fresno and it's fans...starting Nov 2! ;) Hope their are no injuries for either team.

Bulldog down, Bulldog down!! Listen, all I keep hearing from Fresno fans is how good they played against LSU and how close some of their games were. Bottom line, the only thing that counts is the score at the end of the game. At least Boise State beat Hawaii and didn't look like a junior high team against them. Hawaii is a damn good team and don't get near the credit they deserve, they whooped Fresno and that's that. Your team needs to get over their losses and give us a decent fight. I will be at the "SMURF TURF" next Wednesday and look forward to the whipping. Your team needs to desperately get their emphasis off of the BCS and concentrate on the WAC. Fresno went to Logan, Utah and lost to the Aggies, do you honestly believe that your team is going to come onto the "BEAUTIFUL" blue field and upset us? You are plainly in a haze of hopefullness. Prediction: BSU=52 FSU=24 GO BRONCOS!!! And did you notice that I didn't say anything about us possibly going to a BCS game, that's because us as fans and the Bronco's as a team, only concentrate on beating one team at a time, and next week it's your turn to lose again. Pat Hill should take some lessons from Coach Peterson.

I re-read my 1st sentence and didn't like how it might be interpreted so what I meant to write was:

The vast majority of BSU fans have great respect for FSU...

As a BSU alumni and former athlete, I can confirm that Boise fans do respect the Dawgs. It's no fun to see you guys having a bad season and not living up to your past accomplishments. True, our secondary has been spotty lately, but due to our running game, we can control the tempo and make some plays on defense, just enough to pull the game out. In this case, I think the Dawgs will play us tough for a half, then we'll take over and end up winning by 14 or 17 points. Good luck to you Dawgs, and I hope those that make the game enjoy themselves in our wonderful city....ps: Will Pat be around next year if you get blown out?

I didn't mean to attack you personally Bulldog Critic, that's not my style. I don't even know how to talk smack. It's just that people know Fresno as this cocky mid-major school, anyone, anytime, anyplace, and we can't back it up this year. We beat Nevada this year, and that's it.

I just don't like to hear other people telling us what we already know. We know what's going on with our program over here and we're upset. Hopefully our voices are to the AD and he puts some type of pressure on Pat Hill so that some changes will be made. We get taken on this ride year after year. Our hopes are so high and then they get trampled on. We hung in there against USC, and then lost four strait.

Maybe our team, coach, players, and community needed this season so that way we can be humbled.

hi guys it's me again. I just wanted to respond to the GO BRONCOS guy...The no dogs down is garbage that nobody really bought into except a few. That's not really a put down, if that's what it's meant to be. Secondly, you misunderstood my comment about the smurf turf. I meant it no disrespect, because it's a freakin icon and Boise is lucky to have it; as no other collegiate team is allowed turf any color but green. I've been there and it's nice to say that I have. It's true Boise did beat Hawaii and Hawaii does not get the credit they deserve. The problem is every team and fan of teams in the WAC know that. You're venting to the wrong crowd, tell it to Kirk Herbstreit. About the LSU game, yeah we lost and that's what counts but I think you're forgetting about the Boise/Georgia game last year. I just warn you, dont be so dang arrogant. You remind me of us in 2001. We as bulldog fans are torn cause we envy you guys right now and we would love for you to shake up the BCS rankings, however we want our team to win too. I root for the dogs first (as you would your team) but should the probable happen I'm pulling for the broncos all the way. Another thing, quit talking about how you're not talking about the BCS. There are two reasons for that. The first is that you are. Secondly if you're not, you're shorting yourselves cause if you don't promote your own team who will, and that's why you probably won't make a BCS game. Look man, I don't mind hearing from non-bulldogs fans, in fact i welcome it, but Boise is a real first-class town and you're killing it for them. So here's to a good game (as I raise my apple juice glass) and no injuries. Boise wins 44-17 on the smurf turf.

Just remember, BSU wants revenge for last year.

Fresno offense wakes up, the secondary finally figures what they are suppose to do. Fresno wins the last 5 games, goes to a bowl game.

Hey, I am in Charlotte NC, so I can dream

I think that Fresno State has a legitimate chance to beat Boise on the blue sorta-like-grass turf. The new qb is gritty just like the rest of the team. Im an LSU fan and was impressed with Fresno's grit......at least they PLAY a decent schedule and arent afraid to play good teams. ....in Louisiana its called GUTS, in Boise its called ......dont step in the cow pies....Are there cows in IDAHO?....OH well, GO FRESNO

Hey All just reading all your posts>> OK here is my response to all the comments. Yes! it's disappointing that Fresno is doing so terrible, you Fresno have let us down YOU Fresno are the only team that we ever get respect from beating in the wack AND YOUR NOT HELPING US OUT THIS YEAR!!

Honestly, I fear Fresno every time we play them even though we have beat them by huge margins.except for last year..I remember..What? 3 years ago 66-3 in the snow at Fresno..Awesome game!! Fresno has always been good and they have let us down but it doesn't mean I don't fear them there one of the only legitame WAC teams and if we(Boise) let are gaurd down they'll take us like we're a crap team.

As for our strength of schedule...teams don't want to play us, they fear us. Georgia was a bad example of our bad year 9-4. But Georgia doesn't come here to play us. We get turned down all the time it's not our fault. Like I said it'll be fun for the first half but we have the big target on us and regardless of who you play it's difficult to win every friggin game week in week out. GO BRONCOS!!!! we're going to Fiesta bowl and I'm goin to Phoenix to watch it!!! WOOTWOOT!!

Back here in Nebraska, its all Cornhuskers. But not for
me, I'm still a Bulldog fan. The Bulldogs typically do well in the first half and then go south during the second
half, but not this year. They will vamp up for the second
half of the schedule by upsetting Boise, 31-28 -- I can't
wait.

Wafo

Since Fresno State will play at Hawaii, it can schedule a fifth nonconference game and 13 total games next season.

Why not renew the series against BYU? It was a fun game, competitive, and great crowds in both stadiums? I know BYU had 2 openings with just 10 games scheduled, and out of desparation they had to add a game against a I-AA team just to get up to 5 home games. If FSU is motivated, I know BYU will be prefering to play the best non-conference schedule they can, (Notre Dame, Alabama, Miami, Georgia Tech, USC), if the Bulldogs can work out the same open date, why not?

Come on William, give me a break. You disagree with me because our fans don't squawk about a BCS game like you guys did, everytime you did, you failed, we (BSU fans) have learned from your mistakes. Every year Pat (Mr.Mustache) Hill starts ranting and raving about the BCS, he gets to driving the Fresno State BCS Band Wagon so fast and loud that by the time the wheels of the bus go flat and it starts veering off the road, he's blown his horn so loud that he never heard the tires pop. As far as the Georgia game last year, you're completely right, they beat us and we deserved to get beat because we did not have the team last year to beat them. But the difference between BSU and Fresno State is, we admit that we got our asses hand to us without making excuses and BSU fans stood by their team, your fans make nothing but excuses and ask for your coaches head on a spike when things don't go your way. You tell me who the better fans are? As far as the blue turf, I think you're wrong about us being the only ones allowed a blue field, anybody can have any color field that they want, there just isn't an NCAA ruling that specifies the color of the field. I just take offense to you saying that I'm ruining it for Boise State because I'm a fan, if you go back and look at the past postings for Fresno football, it's your fans who are making excuses for the dogs failings and/or the head of Pat Hill. I am a true fan of the Broncos because win or lose I am blue and orange through and through. GO BRONCOS!!! Again BSU 52 FSU 24

I meant to address my last comment to sounddude and not william.

Hi folks. Another Bronco fan here.
I just want to say that both programs (Fresno and Boise) are headed in the right direction. Fresno has struggled this year, okay it happens sometimes. Boise struggled last year too. Yet both programs, and their communities should realize these are winning programs that don't stay 'down' for long.

Fresno equals Boise in talent, perhaps arguably enjoys more. Don't let the 1-6 record lull ya into thinking they are a bad club. They are very capable indeed.

I only hope they wait until after Wednesday to pull it together :) GO BRONCOS!!

Ok, so it's FSU vs BSU week and there are a couple of Bronco fans just laying it on us right now, predicting scores and talkin' all that smack, saying we're this and we're NOT that, but they ARE this and THEY are all that. It's very easy to kick someone (Bulldog Football) when they're down. Enjoy it cause it won't last. Let's see what happens when they have a down year. Those few critical Bronco fans will definitley choke on their own words, but keep sippin' on that hater-aide, you'll be fine. To you other Bronco fans with class (most of them)...good luck tomorrow, it should be a great game. These two teams bring out the best in one another and this is usually the game of the year in the WAC (No disrespect to Hawaii or Nevada) Of course I'll be rooting for my DOGS, but should they lose I'll be a BSU fan the rest of the year and hope they crash the BCS!!!! GO DOGS!!!

GO DOGS! I know the season has been really off but I am not suprised at all. It was a rebuild year before it started. I am a Bulldogs fan till the end and I hope they can upset Boise State, I know its going to be a hard game for the dogs but if they put there heart in it they can upset and suprise everyone thinking they couldnt do it. I would like to state right now that bulldog fans stick with there team no matter what, I used to be in the Bulldog Marching Band and fans have nothing but pride for the school, I see red wavers evertime there is a home game and there are in extremely and I mean extremely large numbers. Back on Note I think its going to be a close game and Dogs will come out with the win.

"BEAT BOISE FEED THE BAND!"

Can't wait to get the Dawgs on the blue tomorrow night! Nothing brings up the decibels like seeing Pat Hill and his boys on the sideline. We know Fresno has ton's of talent but the Broncs O-Line will continue providing Ian Johnson with holes big enough to drive the Bulldogs bus through. Broncos win big, thanks to all of you supporting our boys and their BCS bid.

Start yourself a winning streak of your own, next week!

Go Broncos!!

You Fresno fans should get the clear message from the Bronco posts here that fresno State is highly respected in Boise. I believe most of us root for FSU throughout the season except when you play the Broncos. You can be quite sure that the Broncos are not looking past FSU, and they won't look past San Jose or Nevada. It's hard to be too worried about Utah State on the blue, but the other three games are loseable. The Broncos will be sky high on Wednesday, though. I'll be there, and I am confident about a Boise State win. I remember when we were down 14-0 against Oregon State: the fans were confident, and the Broncos were confident that it was just a temporary setback and that we were going to win. It will be very hard for Fresno to get the Broncos off track.

Ok, so let's get real. Fresno State has been barking for years they want to move into a BCS conference. Why? They can't win their own WAC let alone play in a BCS conference. Boise State has achieved what they have the old fashioned way - they earned it. They didn't schedule every BCS school that would entertain them and then hope one or two wins out of a dozen would catapult them into the national spotlight. What they did do was consistently find a way to win games then, successive WAC titles and then a potential bid in a BCS bowl game. Fresno State needs to quit whining about where they are and shut up and play football.

Dog fans! You the best in the Wac. Im sorry for your down year and after this week i wish you the best. Pat Hill is a class act and always stick up for the WAC. With that said im afraid of your Dogs you play good again the good team I'm glad this team is on the Blue with that said I think BSU will win, When we knock you off when you was #8 it was great but this win in hollow wish we didn't have to play you this year. Each year the number 1 game we play is with you but this year its not the same its hard to beat a great team thats having a down year, Each year I hope you win except in Boise and I hope next year you back to your old self's

I'm licking my chops for this game. . . As a proud Bronco, I have great respect for Fresno, they are better than their record shows. Fresno is a team that plays with high emotion, just like Boise State or any good Mid-Major. Fresno was at a pinnacle last year with a home grown beating of Boise State and a near upset with USC. Unfortunately, that was were the emotions were shattered. Fresno has yet to stabalize their frustration of last year, and it has carried over into this season. I firmly believe that a win over Boise would set the fuel of emotions on fire for the rest of the year, and Fresno would win the remaining games of the season. However, as a proud Bronco I fear that that possibility is slim to none. BLUE kills people!! I have seen it many times. Unfortunately, a blow out in Boise could be very disasterous to the emotionally unstable Fresno team and could mean a Bottom 10 appearance at the end of the season. Fresno has got to climb out of this hole sometime, you and I know that they're better than this.

It's Wed morning and instead of doing housework, I'm cheking the game hype. For all your Fresno Fans - believe me - no one at BSU is overlooking this game - I always look at the new schedule and always know that Fresno is the team that scares me. We respect your coach, team and community. My prediction is BSU 52 and FSU 14.
Good Luck!!

I know we will be entertained by a good Fresno State effort, and a true "good guy in Pat Hill, but tonight will be Boise's. We will give up a few big plays, but we will score more points. Defense at the line, Johnson's 150 yards, a nice cold night, and a live crowd will rule. Nice night for a football game. Go Broncos!!!

This goes out to GO BRONCOS. The NCAA does have a rule about field color. Field color must be green. Boise State is allowed to have Blue because they had Blue before the rule was put into affect. The rule has been around for years but so has your blue turf.

The Dawgs are truly a love/hate bunch. Sorry about this season. As a Bronco fan, I believe you all will lose. I feel only 80% certain that will happen. Any one - any where means just that. I am still a little sore about the old Pat Hill days when your guy hit our guy (Gilligan) in the throat and you all had that awful motto about God sorting out the dead and injured. Now, I say, either get a new coach or regroup and take care of WAC business first. I think Pat Hill is one of the best coaches around, I hate to see him wear out his welcome by trying too hard. Somehow I feel playing "big time" teams can come back and hurt you through injuries and loss of focus for the "little" guys, like BSU. And, yeah, Hawaai is tough and getting more so - Nevada won't be easy either. Go Broncos - Go Dawgs after this game.

Hey Bulldog fans. We all know how tough a losing season is when expectations are so high but don't let it get you down. You have too much tradition and you really have a great team that everyone respects, and fears. Remember the young men playing their hearts out for you. I'm sure you can imagine how they are feeling and what they are going thru. You can also imagine what your great coaches are going thru and how frustrated they are. Come on, you great fans need to give them your total support and let them know you are all really behind them and with them in all of these hard times. Here's for a usual great game between two great football programs. But, GO BRONCOS!!!

Well, get your head out of dreamland Fresno State fans, or any of you left around here to care.

We're not beating Boise State. We're not beating anyone else until next season -- and even that might be a stretch.

As bad as this season has been -- get ready for a possible "O-fer" next season.

I don't understand the hype around Pat Hill. I really don't. Jim Sweeney built the program into what it is today. Hill just took over and drove the bus straight for a few years until he drove it straight off a cliff this season.

Giving Hill credit for building the stadium that Jim Sweeney, Jeff Tedford, Henry Ellard, Mark Barsotti, Kevin Sweeney and so many others helped build and maintain is so wrong!

I hate to say I told you so, but I TOLD YOU SO!!! Boise won, can you believe that dawg fans? I was there watching the whooping on the blue and all I could think about was getting on this blog site. What happened to all your fans coming to this game? The only dawg fans I saw, probably 20 or so, were sitting in the stands at the 5 yard line on the north end zone visitor side, they must've been the coaching staffs family. Two years ago you guys were everywhere, what happened? Sound dude a couple of days ago had the audacity to say that I was hurting BSU because of my outspokeness, hell you guys didn't even have any fans show up, you guys know as well as I do that BSU fans are more caring about our team than dawg fans by far. I couldn't believe it when Mr. Mustache put Brandstater in after starting Norton, you at least had a shot with Norton. If I was you guys I'd call for Hill's head too. Well enough trying to be nice to each other, you had your one win against us last year, first time in how may tries, and tonight was Boise's revenge, good try, glad your team at least made the flight to Boise and better luck next year. I will at least go to Fresno next year for the game to support my team and not sit at home and gripe about it on an internet/newspaper blog site. I predicted a score of 52-24, I was wrong sorry, BSU won 45-21 , not a bad prediction though, like I said before a win is a win, but Fresno pretty much forgot what winning is about!!GO BRONCOS!!!

This is for Bill,

I have a lot of respect for the other Boise fans who show some class and cheer for the Broncos, but at the same time admit that Fresno scares the Bejeezus out of us...even this year. They are FAR better than their record shows. Go Broncos and Go Fresno. I guess this year we should include Hawaii to the list, too.

hey Sully... you have any documentation on the field color rule? I'd like to see it. Thanks
