OK, got an e-mail from Gerald. Here's the update from Italy ...

(The Matt James blog: Your No. 1 source for 2006 Paralympic skiers from Merced, Calif. Unless someone somewhere else is doing it better, but you'd have to believe we're at least in the top 5.)

"Matt,

Just checked the blog on the Fresno Bee website. I got pulled from the downhill due to a concussion. I crashed the day before on the second to last pitch in the training run. a pretty slick fall-away turn that claimed a few others too.

All is well now though and I was cleared for racing today. the sitting/VI Super G should be on paralympicsport website sometime tommorrow. I did alright, though I was a little too conservative in the section I crashed in, and that cost me a good couple of seconds. planning to turn up the heat for the tech events.

gerald"

So that's your update. Gerald took 32nd in the super-G this morning. His next race is Friday. You heard it here first. He plans to "turn up the heat" for the last two events. Consider that inside info., not that I'm encouraging you to gamble on the Paralympics.
