There's a new interview with ABC's "Good Morning, America" today with Sarah Palin's band of girlfriends, who lightheartedly call themselves the Elite Six. Folks seem surprised that not all of them have said they will vote for her and most of them disagree with her on some political issues. But they all love her.
I get it. I don't even know Gov. Palin, but after her speech, I thought she did a fine job handling the task before her. And even though I disagree with many of her views, I thought, now there's a family I'd like to have over for dinner. Sarah's fun. In fact, I'd have to make it a family get-together because my mom is already crazy about little Trig and wants to be his babysitter when Sarah's busy.
Apparently, her dearest friends are real people. Some have disagreed with her decisions as governor. Most of them are pro-choice... Not all of them say they will vote for her. They don't talk politics when they are together. But they have fun and, as one said, "love her to pieces."
I like that diversity and honesty in a band of buddies.
Wonderful! Fire the Chief of Police because he refused to get involved with the nasty divorce of her younger sister. Try to fire the librarian because she declined to take books of the shelves if Palin asked her to do so. What nobility, what honor. I just love her to pieces. And right now, I wished that Fresno had more than just one daily newspaper.
Are you saying, Ms Gail, that a "conservative woman" is actually a likeable, decent and honorable woman? Quite a concession for anybody in the news business!
You're so funny, T.C. If you knew my close friends and adored family, you'd laugh. Some of them make T.C. Morgan look like a liberal extremist! But they are great women, we've got each other's backs... and I love them.
Point well taken! I apologize! It’s seems I just can’t resist taking that added shot when it comes to the media .... after all I do swing to the right of Rush Limbaugh!
Is that a Downs Sydrome baby?
Ms. Marshall
That piece may get you invited to dinner in Washington (D.C.) shortly, enjoy the moose!
Probably not me, Bart, but my mom, definitely. Great babysitters are hard to find!
Yes, Rich, that is a Downs baby, and he is completely adorable.
Likeable and honorable are not synonymous; though an individual can be both.
Or just one or the other. Cons are very likeable and charming, but they are not honorable. The English language is not a rubber band to be stretched to fit the flavor of the day.
Heavy...
She is a normal person just like we are or most of us are and thats one reason I like her so much. She can see where we are all coming from. I hope she and McCain win in November.

I wonder if Obummer would consider the coment in regard to pigs and lipstick any different, if it were Michelle who had used the comment at the convention. Do you think he might consider it a personal attack on his wife?
He supposedly wants to run this above board clean campaign but at least Palin's comment was not directed at any particular individual or party, was it?
I think she was trying to drive the point home that she is no one's fool or pushover simply because she is a woman.
They are making all matter of to do over her not wanting to do personal interviews with the media at this time. But she isn't on Meet The Press or many of the Sunday Morning Media shows like Joseph Biden is every weekend or Obama. Let her get her sea legs and she will be doing them with just as much professionalism and with a more sincere side than the two Demobrats ever dreamed of doing.
Palin doesn't hide the fact that she speaks for a lot of women and that she speaks to issues most people can relate to. I think the biggest problem Biden & Obama have is they know how tenacious a pitbull can be. They are use to dealing out a lot of bull but not dealing with a pitbull.
No, the problem for Obama and Biden is that while they are campaigning on the issues, the Palin/McCain campaign is mostly about personality (hers) and biography (his).
We'll just have to wait awhile for the media buzz to settle down, and for people to start focusing on the real issues again. Then they can decide if we want 4 more years of the same policies with an old and a new face, or real change. The Republicans, on the other hand, have to cross their fingers and hope the buzz lasts until November.
That is not the buzz of energy as blue voters undergo permanent metamorphasis. Patriotism which can hardly wait until November to express itself. May I offer my condolences in advance?
Fred,
Maybe consider McCain himself used the lipstik pig comment as well.
What the McCain campaign can have a double standard on what to say durring a campaign speech?
To add, it was directed at McCains policies, not meant to offend Palin or pigs for that matter.
Palin is just a distraction, calling her a pitbull (a dog) seems very offensive maybe some self policing is in order.
"Watchdog Fred"
To Rich,
Well considering the remark was a badge of honor that Sarah pinned on during her opening speach, I guess it is alright with her that I use the term.
Secondly, you are so right about McCains solutions, he was right about the surge, he is right about Georgia and the Russians. Wherein Obummer hasn't been right about anything including his Veep selection.
He might have had a chance had he chosen Hildog, but now I think he is simply a man involved in a history making issue. Instead of making history himself. The McCain Palin ticket is taking roughly 20% of the former Clinton Women backers away from Obummer. When it has been stated all along that Obummer needed 100% of the Clinton camp in order to capture the election. That should pretty well tell you where your candidate is in this election. Achieving only 80% of his goal.
Oh Obummer is right about one thing it will deffinately be a history making event when a woman is sworn in as Vice-President next year in January. The Republicans will have participated in yet another "first" politically as they have done throughout time.
Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, as was Ronald Reagan, as is George W. Bush. Perhaps the latter being more significant having kept the country from being "attacked again" during his presidency. That we will have to wait for the history books to determine.
Say what you will, he has kept the terrorist organizations pretty busy fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan instead of on the streets of America. Which is fine by me. . . As you can see a comment about dogs by the Watchdog is perfectly genuine.
Fred,
Where did I state McCain was "right on solutions"?
Dont be so quick to ride the high hog (lipstick optional) on Republicans protecting America.
Democrats just as well have done a great job defending America.
Just remember 9/11 happened on GW's watch, so much for protection, eh?
"Watchdog Fred"
You are absolutely right Rich, it was an attack in response to the failed bombing attempt by President William Jefferson Clinton on Osama Bin Laden. A misplaced bomb that missed it's mark. Clearly an oversight on Clinton's camp not the Bush camp.
As I recall George W. was reading to a group of children in a school when the planes went crashing into the twin towers in New York City. You are right that clearly must have been George W's fault.
Down through history if you'd care to take the time to study it, every action has brought an equal reaction and that is what happened in this case Rich. Get out the book dust it off and try opening it up and reading a few chapters and you'll see what I mean.
Give McCain a chance and I'd be willing to bet he won't miss and he will get the top terrorist on everyone's mind. Every time George W. has listened to McCain, it's turned out just like McCain said it would.
They are bringing the boots out of Iraq as I write this clearly because McCain's idea worked. Based on nothing else, it certainly wasn't Obummer's visit to talk to the troops that brought it about. As soon as Nobama learned he couldn't use the visit as a publicity ploy, he was having none of it. Not when he wouldn't even see the one's most deserving, those wounded men and women in the recovery rooms of the Hospital in Germany where he tried to give his Ronald Reagan speach and take credit for the Berlin Wall coming down. Those who serve don't forget having the back of the possible future president of the United States turned on them. They remember that all the way to the voting booth and beyond and they write their family members and ask them to do the same thing to support our troops as they will, Rich. That and such a brilliant selection as his running mate will easily send John S. McCain into the White House in January for four years of justice for this country.
John S. McCain knows more about the price of milk and the price of oil than Mr. Obama ever will. He may not know he only owns seven houses because his wife has the money to buy eight nine and ten without his signature being required. She is very well off in her own right, which I see nothing wrong with as Jackie Kennedy did she will be buying her own outfits with her own money. I like that idea. He's paying seven times the property tax as is Obama.
But good luck trying to shoot them in the foot becasue nothing your candidate is doing seems to work.
