"No text from Obamaland"

first_to_know_lp_2.jpgThat's what the past two "tweets" have been from NPR Politics. Meanwhile, CNN is "confirming" that Obama has picked Joe Biden as his running mate.

While I can't confirm this news anywhere else yet, I can confirm that there have been no text messages from Obama, since my cell phone has been strangely quiet all evening. (Yes, I know I dismissed his ploy earlier this week as a gimmick, but that doesn't mean I didn't sign up to receive a message on my mobile phone.)

I should be sleeping, since I'm running 8 miles at 4,000 feet in just a few hours. But being the news junky that I am, I keep looking for signs of actual news happening. And while I applaud Obama's people for keeping this secret this long, I'll be a little annoyed if the presidential contender fails to keep his promise to let his supporters know before the traditional media establishment gets the word.

They held it for so long so they could control the spin.Dumping it on the weekend like they did allows them and the leftist media to control the news cycle until Monday when the people they fear(talk radio)can tee off on this goofy combo. This should be delicious.

Lisa,

I did get the Biden text. Fortunately it didn't wake me up at 2:00am. It appears that some media sources beat the announcement by 3 hours.

Best of luck on your run.

Craig

This will not matter at all a few days from now.

I thought it was funny how the anticipation kept building.

The media (left and right), supporters, and the McCain camp were all frustrated.

Brian,

Thanks for the insight. Do you write political satire as a hobby?

Conservatives are rejoicing that Joe Biden is going to be the VP nominee. This is almost too easy! Biden always has a lot to say about everything, rattling on and on and on .... ad nauseam. It’s going to be interesting to go back and review what he said about Obama early in the Dem primary debates.

Rush Limbaugh is probably giggling in his sleep at this fortunate turn of events for conservative talk radio.

Rush Limbaugh is hardly in any position to criticize anyone for "rattling on and on and on ... ad nauseam [sic]."

If being a bit too long-winded is the worst they've got on Biden, then it doesn't take much to get old Rush giggling in his sleep.

I am so glad I didn't get a text message because 1 I don't care and 2 I get really ticked when the politicioans can call or text when I am on the do not call list which they seem to be exempt from violating.

Mr. Morgan

Like I heard this morning, "a man who has trouble finding the off switch." He is my second best example of why I support term limits.

I got my email notice on Friday night...about the time it started hitting the news.

Rush and the Repubs would have been critical of anyone Obama picked...or should I say will intensely bash anyone who gets picked. Nothing new here. The Dems will try and pick apart whomever McCain picks. It's politics. *yawn*

It's started already -- the gaffes, the idiocy.

"Obama Misspeaks, Calls Biden 'The Next President'; Biden Calls Obama 'Barack America'"

"ABC News' Sara Just reports: Journalists who were awake until the wee hours waiting for confirmation that Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., was indeed Barack Obama's running mate, cannot be blamed if their hearing is a little fuzzy today. But after today's Obama-Biden speeches to a massive crowd in Springfield, Ill., many reporters are rolling back the tape and asking each other, 'Did he really say that?' When introducing his running mate, Obama said, 'So let me introduce to you the next president -- the next vice president of the US of America, Joe Biden.'"

"And then when it was Biden's turn to speak, the Delaware senator called the presumptive Democratic nominee 'Barack America' instead of Barack Obama."

Big deal they misspoke durring the speech, they are human not robots.

Should we pull out Bush's library of gaffes the size of the Smithsonian?

McCain is human as well in making mistakes.

This tit for tat video snipits of human mistakes do not add substance to this election campaign.

"In two separate television interviews in the spring of 2004, Biden suggested the best way to bring unity to a divided nation was for the then-Democratic presidential candidate, John Kerry, to select McCain as his running mate. ....'I think John McCain would be a great candidate for vice president. I mean it. I know John doesn't like me saying it, but the truth of the matter is, it is,' Biden told Tim Russert of NBC's ‘Meet the Press.'"

If you're a Republican, the less substance the better in this election. Better to get people worrying about Obama's fictional Muslim past or yukking about gaffes than to focus on the wars, bad economy, erosion of our constitutional rights and declining stature around the world the last 8 years.

So, Mike, "credibility" is not an election issue any more?

How do verbal gaffes affect credibility? If that's the case, then you shouldn't believe anything Bush says.

As for Biden's support of McCain in 2004 (assuming he actually said that), he was talking about the McCain of 2004, not the McBush that McCain has morphed into.

Unbelievable.
