Network television demonstrates its lameness during convention coverage

clinton_convention.jpgLast night, I was watching the convention on KFSN Channel 30 (ABC). Former President Bill Clinton was giving his speech, which I had been looking forward to. I couldn't believe it -- the network cut away in the middle of the speech to return to its news broadcast. I had to switch to a cable news channel to see the rest of the speech. This was the only former president speaking during the Democrats' convention -- that is incredibly disrespectful.

With the state of things in our nation right now, the networks should be providing more comprehensive coverage of the convention, which sets the stage for an election that will be crucial to the future of America.

Maybe the powers that be at the networks will have more sense during the Republicans' convention next week.

I have no doubt that the Republican convention will have better coverage.

Perhaps it helps to know who owns most of the "NEWS" in America. Not even "60 Minutes" has been left untainted.

The first night I watched NBC with Brian Williams because I like his delivery. They spent so much time yakking to each other I missed much of what was going on behind them. The next night I watched KVPT (PBS) and got better coverage. We don't have cable out here, just an antenna so our choices are few.

We did miss President Clinton's speech which must have happened before 7:00 on Wednesday. The networks left me with the impression that all coverage starts at 7:00 pm all week. Kicking myself for not researching better.

It will be interesting to see the Republican Convention. The networks will have learned something by then and I'll be looking for something I might agree with.

I know I should be more interested, but politics just don't float my boat. I have researched the candidates via the internet and think less is more at this point.

I watched all of the proceedings on PBS (KVPT) ... the "Newshour" crew did a tremendous job.

NO commercials - NO breakaways (except for interviews from the floor) - reporting and opinion that are enlightening.

THANK YOU ... now I gotta send in my $39 bucks ... sorry about it being late KVPT. I quite paying AARP membership and now pay KVPT - a much better investment.

Give me something easy to do; like translating The Gallic Wars. Those $39.00 to KVPT; what is that all about? I am no communications Whizz. Thank You

Isabell, are you asking why she's sending $39.00 to KVPT? I can't tell if you're being facetious. Conversations in text, I've noticed, lose a lot without inflection, expression or emotion.

Yes, I was asking why the $39.00 to KVPT. And I never would have guessed that Eldon was a she. Were we talking about Channel 18? I guess we were. FINIS
