Bee recommends Anderson and Magsig for Fresno County supervisors
After some very interesting editorial board discussions over the last few weeks about the Fresno County Board of Supervisors race, The Bee is recommending incumbent Susan B. Anderson in District 2 and Nathan Magsig to replace Bob Waterston in District 5. What's up with that? Click here to read our editorial today and find out.

Our area has been bombarded by Poochie signs and mailers. She touts leadership experience with a resume highlight that lists neighborhood watch captain and little league coach.Huh?Nathan has actually been a leader although we have not seen or heard from him here in these parts. Poochie has made a few local appearances and that seems to get the local support around here. What about Bob? I assume he is still drawing a paycheck but has been unseen or heard from for over six months in Shaver.I guess he's spending more time with his family.

As Supervisor Waterston's assistant since the day he was sworn as the District 5 Supervisor, I feel qualified to respond to Mr. Murray's latest nasty comments "What About Bob?" Supervisor Waterston has worked hard his entire tenure as the District 5 Supervisor and continues to represent his constituents by holding office hours in his district at the Auberry Sheriff's Substation and the Squaw Valley Sheriff's Substation. Before Mr. Murray was managing the Shaver Lake Community Center, office hours were held in Shaver Lake as well. Mr. Murray determined that it was not necessary for District 5 constituents to have privacy to discuss their issues with their representative and told me that the Shaver Lake Community Center office would no longer be available for use by Supervisor Waterston. If the people of Shaver Lake are wondering why their Supervisor is no longer meeting with them near their home, why they now need to drive down to Auberry for office hours, perhaps they should discuss it with Mr. Murray. If Mr. Murray has a personal issue with Supervisor Waterston, that is fine but to deny his neighbors the opportunity to discuss their issues privately by not allowing office hours to be held and then by publicly asking "What About Bob" is absurd. I do not recall Mr. Murray ever contacting our office either by email (District5@co.fresno.ca.us) or by phone (488-3665) to discuss any matter with his elected County Supervisor but I have certainly noticed his nasty comments about a man I have been proud to work with the past eight years. Supervisor Waterston's office hours schedule are posted on the Fresno County website at www.co.fresno.ca.us or can be obtained by emailing or calling our office. Finally and for the record, this post is being made on my day off, on my own time, from my personal computer and not at tax payer expense.

Ouch, that has to hurt, huh Brian? I guess it’s really “What about Brian?” Interesting that BM is critical of a situation he created, but that’s BM for you. Hey BM, it sounds to me like you’re against democracy.

No hurt here Whyne.Been called a BM before. Kathy has it wrong. There was nothing wrong with what we set up for Bob and Kathy. I explained there was a former employee that was present we did not want to have access to the office area.Besides always being a half hour late and bailing early or cancelling often why would you pick between 10am-12pm during the week if you really wanted folks to have access.Sorry if Bob felt snubbed but I had my reasons and explained them. Who's behaving like a grown up here.As much tax money as the county pulls out of this area you would think the Supervisor and Ms.Burrows would behave in a classier manner by meeting regularly with their constituents throughout the remainder of their term... perceived snub or not.I voted for Bob and am embarassed by their behavior.P.S. Ray Ramirez in the Resources Division is a gem and will be sorely missed. What an outstanding individual.

One thing Mr. Murray and I can agree on is that Ray Ramirez is a gem and will be missed very much. Regarding everything else, we will have to agree to disagree. I do not recall "always" being late, "bailing early," or cancellng often in regard to office hours at Shaver Lake. There have been situations where constituents asked us to visit their property for a better understanding of their issues. If there were no further visitors, we may have departed early in order to accommodate the request and keep our previously scheduled commitments at the Hall of Records. Through no fault of his own, Mr. Murray clearly does not understand the commitment and depth of responsibility of a Fresno County Supervisor.
Further, I do not recall saying that Mr. Murray's failure to accommodate the Supervisor's request constituted a "snub." If anything, Mr. Murray has "snubbed" our constituents through his disregard of their need for privacy. Also, I fnd it amusing that someone that resorts to name calling would suggest that I should behave in a "classy" manner. The name by which Mr. Murray chooses to refer to Mrs. Poochigian is both disparaging and appalling, but afer reading his posts, I see this is endemic. It is not necessary or appropriate for Mr. Murray to be "embarrassed" by my or the Supervisor's behavior. Supervisor Waterston and I are both "grown ups," fully capable of being responsible for our behavior. If Mr. Murray feels the need to be embarrassed by anyone's behavior, it should be his own. His constant name-calling and blatant misconstruing of fact are indicators of immaturity, lack of respect, and undignified behavior for anyone reading this blog.
Despite Mr. Murray's obstruction, Supervisor Waterston and I will continue to work hard to represent the constituents of Shaver Lake. We believe we have the most beautiful and diverse district in Fresno County and it has been my pleasure to work with Supervisor Waterston and serve all residents of District 5.

Kathy-you need to get help with this multiple personality thing or did you conveniently forget our phone conversation when you were nice as could be with no mention of the set up for Bob's visit that day promising me a call when you had his schedule for the upcoming months. I waited till 10:30 that day for you two(not my job to accomodate people who don't respect others time). As far as my posts..."I am what I am" and most people who get to know me like me.If Bob and you decide to grace us with your presence and are "On Time" I would be more than happy to give you access to the office area to carry on your "Private" conversations. If not I can not responsibly leave the office unlocked and un attended. If you really want to hear from what you called "Your People" schedule a Wednesday or Thursday evening meeting.Better yet we have a "Town Hall Mtg." scheduled for May 22nd at 630pm. Please tell me if you and Bob can attend and interact with"Your People".
