Our week has been really focused on moms, thanks to the launch ofThe Bee's newest Web site, centralvalleymoms.com. OpinionTalk posters Lisa Boyles and I are having a ton of fun connecting with moms all over the Valley, along with a crack team of people like us who never sleep (at least when we are supposed to.) Hey, we're just learning here.
Speaking of moms, and everyone should do so every single day, I saw a posting on the mindhub listserve that reminded me that Mother's Day is coming up. Consider this your first nag to remember the moms in your life on that day! More than that, if you have a great mom or know one, consider nominating her for Fresno's biggest Mom award called Mother of the Year. (Timpani, please!)
The Fresno County Women's Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 66th annual Mother of the Year celebration May 9 at Pardini's 2257 West Shaw Ave, at Van Ness, Fresno 11:30 - 2:00 pm. Reservations, at $35 a person, may be made with Aletha Lang at 559 313-0427.
Nominations for Mother of the Year are being accepted through April 15. To nominate a mother, go to www.fcwcc.org. Lunch reservation and nomination forms are on the site. As for me, I think I'll just print off a couple of hundred nomination forms and casually leave them laying around the house. Would that be too obvious?
How can anybody not think of their mothers daily? I think of mine all the time and she is gone. Make the most of every second with your moms cause you can never get that time back once they are gone. Once a mom always a mom Gail. While it is true some moms are not great mothers they are still the only mom you have.
