Wasn't it good to see that front-page story and photo of Sheriff Margaret Mims looking so well this morning? She dodged a bullet over a month ago, catching breast cancer in its early stage. She had a double mastectomy and now is back to work and, she says, ready to move on. She'll have reconstructive surgery later.
Sheriff Mims handled this tough assignment like a trooper and serves as a fine example of the importance of early detection. Get your mammograms, ladies. I got mine in January. No big deal and the results were as clean as Sheriff Mims' driving record.
Thank God for her speedy recovery and early detection. She appears to be a very strong, happy and confident woman.
