Every year someone does something really stupid as an April Fool's Day joke. I've always hated April Fool's, especially when someone uses a newspaper to pull off a joke. Here's an April fool's joke that hurt a lot of people who thought a dear friend had died because of the joke.
This so-called friend placed an obituary advertisement in the Washington Post yesterday telling the world that his pal had died. He hadn't, and this "joke" shook up a lot of the people close to him when they read it yesterday morning in the Post. Some were bent over with grief to learn this person had died.
The friend apologized for his stupidity in placing the ad, and said he didn't realize it would be so hurtful. Not good enough for me. That would be an ex-friend. If he's that insensitive, how could this guy be anyone's friend?
This is not much different than someone calling you in the middle of the night and saying your daughter had been killed in an automobile accident, then calling back a few hours later and saying, "April Fools."
That is pure stupidity and he had to be a moron to not think that would hurt people. That is not even a practical joke as what is expected on April Fools. I don't believe anything people say on that day anymore.
...the best one I heard was on the radio,...they claimed that the president had been arrested in Crawford, Texas, for war crimes, and was in jail pending Nurenburg trials....dead-pan delivery. It occured to me, what a great healing that might be, for the world.
It appears as if many people just want to blame Bush for this whole war mess. The joke would be on all of us if the April Fools joke of him being arrested cause we would be stuck with Cheney who we have only seen a hand full of times as VP.
Why shouldn't we blame Bush? He's the Decider, isn't he? Does the buck stop in the oval office, or not?
What I don't understand is why some people are so quick to rush to his defense. There are plenty of people who need defending in this world. The "Leader of the Free World" isn't one of them.
I like the one reported in the Bee that had Pismo Beach renamed Fresno Beach. Now THAT'S a good April Foll's joke.
It's just good old fashioned "denial", Mike, remember, these folks have never been more wrong about anything in their entire lives. the enormity of this betrayal has rendered them all, a little "touchy".
Sorry Mike I disagree like it or not he is the chief of our country and acted the way he thought was appropriate at the time to protext us. He was new in office and relied on many others in his decision all of whom are blaming him slone. The president doesn't have as much power as everyone thinks. He too has to have a degree of approval to do anything.
