I bring glad tidings of great joy. I had to go to the Clovis DMV today to get a duplicate driving license and it . . . worked... I was braced for the worst and prepared my boss for some time out, but I had an appointment, got in with a short wait, it only cost me $22. The clerk was very nice; a Dallas Cowboys fan (evidence all over her desk.) I even got to hear that distinctive squeal when teenage girl across the room passed her driving test.
And just a small, unexpected plus (though I'm easily impressed). A few months ago, I wrote about the new water-saving Zorn toilets in the Portland airport. It's very simple. Push the flush handle up for liquid, down for solid and save 30% on the water, still taking care of business. Well, they've got them at the DMV. Who woulda thunk Clovis would find a green DMV?
I had a good experience at the Clovis DMV even without an appt. At least they have seats there now so you don't have to stand and wait. Sorry I didn't notice the toilets.
I went to the DMV on Olive and Weber to get a renewel.
I had no appoinment I assumed I would be there all day. Took almost 1.5 hours. I was impressed. I also assumed I would be back 4-6 hours later. I was happily surprised.
