I got an e-mail from Dr. Edward L. Moreno, Fresno County's public health director, announcing the Public Health Champions from the Fresno County Department of Public Health.
The winners are Ann Christensen, a county public health nurse for 21 years; the Fresno County Department of Public Health HIV/AIDS Team and First 5 Fresno County.
Christensen is recognized for her work to link low-income children with health-care services. Her ability to build bridges with health care partners has ensured that more children have received health, dental and vision screenings, immunizations and lead testing.
The HIV/AIDS Team, is recognized for its cutting-edge intervention strategies, its achievement of California Model Program status and statewide recognition for success for Rapid HIV Testing, the Hepatitis C testing, and Partner Counseling and Referral Services.
First 5 Fresno County is honored for innovative funding initatives and partnerships with local organizations that aim to create a healthy and safe community for children and their families.
Congratulations!
