I saw an article this morning that Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean urged Florida and Michigan party officials to come up with plans to repeat their presidential nominating contests so that their delegates can be counted.
That I'm OK with. That would be fair.
What I'm not OK with are the crybaby whines from those states to "Seat our delegates."
Now that the game is interesting, you want to play, be part of history. Uh-huh. You don't get to break the rules, and then not deal with the consequences of your actions.
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and Michigan Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm joined in a strongly worded statement Wednesday:
"It is reprehensible that anyone would seek to silence the voices of 5,163,271 Americans," they wrote, calling the parties' penalties "intolerable."The Democratic Party is not the entity who chose to silence your citizens' voices -- the state leadership did that when they decided to flout the party rules.
Want to play? Want to be a part of this presidential election and have the votes of your state -- your people -- count? Do it over.
Why should Florida and Michigan non-Democrats have to foot the bill for a do over. Let Sen.Obama and Sen.Clinton pay for it. They combined to raise almost $90 million last month or split it with the DNC.Howard Dean "screwed the pooch" in this deal.Don't penalize the voters.
The voters always get the short end of the stick. I think the people in charge that knew it was too early to hold the primary should fork out the dough. Just more politian types try to be sneaky.
The democrat national committee made a rule whether it was good or not. Florida and Michigan chose to break that rule. Too bad. The voters knew going in to their primaries it wouldn't count. The rest of the taxpayers, including Republicans should not have to foot the bill of another election.
Isn't it interesting that the dems are always crying "voter fraud" when elections don't go their way but they were very quiet in 2006 when they won.
Hmmmm
Why didn't the DNC block CA when it moved up its primary?I'm a little confused on what the decision process is in such matters. Are we so controlled by political parties that they trump the indivdual state legislatures decisions if they so choose? With the current situation CA would have been more interesting in June than February this time around but then Nunez and Perata wouldn't have been able to present themselves with the oppurtunity to extend their teet sucking ways.We got nothing we were told we would get by this expensive farce.Money that could have gone towards a choo choo.
I concur with Fran. They always claim voter fraud or want a recount when it doesn't go their way. Both parties do it and it is just ridiculous.
