Google goes dark

logo_black.gifI went to Google to search something this morning and noticed that the screen is black instead of the usual white. A message under the search window says: "We've turned the lights out. Now it's your turn - Earth Hour."

If you click on the Earth Hour link, it explains that this is "a gesture to raise awareness of a worldwide energy conservation effort called Earth Hour. On Saturday, March 29, 2008, Earth Hour invites people around the world to turn off their lights for one hour – from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. in their local time zone. On this day, cities around the world, including Copenhagen, Chicago, Melbourne, Dubai, and Tel Aviv, will hold events to acknowledge their commitment to energy conservation."

That's pretty cool. I'm going to try to go dark tonight for energy conservation.

I don't see how anybody cannot do this. It is only for an hour. I personally love to just sit and hang out in the dark. I love it dark as a cave. People have told me I must be depressed but I am just really more comfortable like that. My etes are very sensitive to light so that may be one reason or it could be that I just like to hibernate. It makes me crazy when businesses have lights on all the time even when they are closed.

I do this every night before I go to bed.

Sounds like we have something in common Rich.My earth hour(s) usualllly start at 9pm and end at 5am.Just doing my part. I feel so much better.
