The bottom nears?
Foreclosure tracker Alexis McGee says "the bottom of the housing market is in sight" and uses her latest figures as evidence. Nationwide, the number of houses in the foreclosure process fell 5% in April from March.
Still, 3.8 of every 1,000 households nationwide have been lost to foreclosure this year. That's the bad news. The good news, she says, is that April totals fell in many counties in California, including Fresno, where preclosures totaled 865 in April compared with March figures of 1,051.
McGee says stimulus programs, lower prices, new conforming loan limits and other actions are helping boost the real estate market. Check out her Web site.
