A recent story about sleep deprivation in the workplace encourages drowsy employees to take naps during the workday. Perhaps they can combine their two 15-minute breaks, the story says.

The suggestion follows an expert’s cautioning that lack of sleep can pose serious safety risks, especially for workers operating forklifts or driving trucks. For the desk-bound, it can lead to impaired math skills, thought processes or memory.
Night shift workers are particularly at risk.

In case you need help figuring out just how tired you are, the National Sleep Foundation has quizzes designed to test your “sleep IQ,” calculate caffeine intake and whether you need to see a doctor.
