Boswell's Fresno latest YouTube star?
Businessman Jim Boswell has little money to advertise his run for mayor, but he's using the Internet to full advantage.
Boswell, who has a Web page dedicated to his campaign, also has active pages on Myspace and meetup.com.
His latest effort is a series of videos posted on Youtube that deal with why he is running for mayor, how he believes the current City Council members wrecked the Running Horse deal and what the best plan is for downtown Fresno.
“I know, and you know, that these wealthy candidates have special interests behind them,” Boswell says in one of the videos. He goes on to say that the other candidates are hoping for a low turnout in the race. “My opponents are actually counting on you not voting because that helps them.”
Most of the 11 candidates for mayor come up on Youtube, though the majority of the videos are from fresnobee.com staff member Will Albritton, who videotaped an early candidate forum.
Others who have posted their own efforts include Ashley Swearengin and Jerry Duncan. Tom Boyajian comes up in two videos. One is the from the Bee. The second is an infomercial for a Fresno Real Estate finance firm.

Comments:
Most of the efforts done for Jim Boswell is from grassroots efforts here in Fresno. Fresno Residents are doing what they can to get Jim Boswell elected as Mayor of Fresno on June 3rd 2008.
While the OTHER candidates PAY people to participate in their campaigns, the Jim Boswell campaign is built with Volunteer Fresno Residents who don't need a dime to back Boswell.
You can see the stuff the other campaigns put out and realize that with Ashleys $70k+ in special interest money, Perea giving city council campaign funds to his mayoral campaign in excess around the same amounts and the rest odds are coming from special interest as well.
Research where their money is coming from, it is NOT fresno residents who are backing these candidates. Don't let the special interest win.

When I decided to run for the office of Mayor, it was and still is, because I wanted to continue to help make my hometown the great city it once was FOR THE PEOPLE. I have not taken one dime from ANY special interests despite the fact that my opponents have and despite knowing that this money could have helped me get my name and more importantly, my plans out to the people. Yes, the only plans that will make Fresno a wonderful city and that will create a better quality of life for every citizen in our city. I have stayed with my plans and my word to work for the people and I will continue to do so. As I have been working along in this race, I have been saddened by the amount of special interests who now own the self proclaimed "Top Tier" candidates. What I kept thinking was how the people will once again be forgotten the day after the election if any one of my opponents were to win and how the people will continue to suffer the consequences of these politicians' actions. Now that I have risen and continue to rise in the polls, what I have also realized is how humbled I am by the thousands of hard working people who have started one of the largest grassroots efforts I have ever seen and how the word is spreading like wildfire about, "The regular working guy who has created plans for the people". These wonderful people have supported me through cold weather and now the heat, but they continue to work so very hard to get my plans out to the people as well as my message of how I am the only candidate who has the knowledge, the passion and the leadership skills to make Fresno the best city in the country and GET THE JOB DONE. I admire and sincerely thank every one of my supporters. It is because of the people of my hometown and this wonderful grassroots effort that I continue to work so very hard and continue to run against the wealthy candidates who have proven to be only working for the special interests and politics as usual. Knowing there are so many people who want a better Fresno and more joining in the grassroots efforts every day keep me pushing hard and striving to make a difference for the people of our city.
Thank you to all of my supporters and those who continue to believe that yes, we can elect a person who will work for the people and not the special interests. I truly believe that if TOGETHER WE STAND, NONE WILL FALL.
