Visalian who helped with jumper is finalist for national Samaritan award
I wrote a column Feb. 1, 2008 about the heroism of Justin Mosley, the downtown Visalia merchant who helped save the life of a woman about to jump to her death from the top of a parking garage.
Mosley used his cell phone to call 911 for help, then kept the woman engaged in conversation until police arrived.
The staff at The Wireless Foundation in Washington, D.C. contacted Mosley after googling "911" on the Internet and finding the column.
Now he's one of 20 finalists for the national Samaritan Awards that the foundation, started by Sprint, ATT, Alltel and other wireless phone companies, gives out yearly. The finalists will be honored at the organization's annual achievement award dinner at Union Station on June 2 in Washington, D.C.
