arrowPepper spray ends punk rock concert

Two ambulances were sent to a central Fresno hard-core punk rock concert tonight after a security guard used pepper spray to fend off a surging crowd, police said.

The show at the Exit at Glenn and Belmont avenues featured the Scary Kids. A security guard said a co-worker was forced to defend himself with the chemical spray after the band urged fans to rush the guard.

Police called for the ambulances after at least one person had difficulty breathing. Other fans complained of temporary pain from the spray.

Earlier, a Fresno Fire Department investigator and police were called to the club to check reports of overcrowding.

Comments:

this little snip-it of information is wrong.

after being told by the staff of the venue that there were technical difficulties, 200 fans were shoved outside into the courtyard and promised re-entry within 5 minutes. after 15 minutes had passed, we realized we werent able to go back in and see the headlining band.

after failing to get a refund, kids tried to watch through the doorway as ok-ed with the staff. security wasnt aware of this action, and rushed the group of 20 or so kids heading into the merch room.

they began to pepperspray anyone they could, and everyone in the room had minor effects of the spray.

that is when police were called, by the band who cared about their fans.

i'm pretty sure the security guards had no reason to use the spray, especially on young girls who obviously weren't a hazard to their safety.

after talking to others who attended the show, i can easily say they wont be getting much business anymore. way to mess up a safe outlet for musicians in fresno. tim gardea productions, and the owner of the exit: im talking to you

One more correction:

This wasnt a "punk" show, it was a indie/emo show, not punk at all.

I wasnt there, I usually dont go to the exit for the plain reason that the security there are abusive, and the venue is poorly ran. The place sucks period. The real punks know where the real gigs are, see ya at the Info Shop.

I think things like Peeper Spray & Stun Gun should be used only for personal safety purpose. Water canon can be best option to control the crowd. Using peeper spray to control the crow can become risky sometime as we don't know about who's having severe allergy to the peeper spray.

This article also didn't mention that Tim overbooked the show in presale by alot! Ten he was still selling tickets at the door even toug it was sold out.

This guy has terrible reputation around Fresno and his hometown, Bako.

Somebody should pepper spray him while all the kids watch. That would be justice....

Oh and if you're reading this Tim, I'd like my arm and my leg back from the REDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED Shiny Toy Guns show. $18? Really?

pfft.
