arrowPolish that apple -- Magsig gets a teacher's endorsement

The filing season for public office has barely begun, but one Fresno County candidate wasted little time in crowing about endorsements.

Clovis City Council Member Nathan Magsig, who is running for the District 5 Fresno County supervisor's seat now held by Bob Waterston, announced this week he has been endorsed by Clovis West High School teacher Matt Verhalen, the California League of High Schools' Region Seven Educator of the Year for 2007.

So far, Magsig’s only opponent in the race is community activist Debbie Poochigian.

Waterston announced last fall he would not seek a new term.
