California Endowment awards $60,550 Grant To Fresno West Coalition
Fresno West Coalition for Economic Development has been awarded a $60,550 grant from The California Endowment to support a variety of projects.
One project that will be funded involves compiling all relevant neighborhood, health, public and private assets in the 93706 zip code area. The goal is to better understand health, economic and community development opportunities for residents, with the objective of addressing persistent health disparities that plague the community and its residents.
The information will be compiled, mapped and used as the basis for creating a West Fresno Community Asset Map and a community action plan for the area. In the future, this process can be used as a model to create maps for other economically disenfranchised areas of the city.
The nonprofit corporation says the information will play a critical role in assisting policy makers, business leaders, agency administrators and the general public in the development of new policies and activities to create additional resources, services, and commerce in the area.
