arrowCentral city crackdown on car theft

Police in central Fresno concluded a two-week sweep focused on reducing auto thefts and other crimes Thursday and reported the operation resulted in 69 felony and 14 misdemeanor arrests.

Lt. Mark Salazar said four firearms were recovered and those arrested included 21 gang members and 14 suspected of auto theft.

The operation, which began Jan. 15, was launched after 76 vehicles were stolen in the previous 28 days.
