The Beehive's TV Death Pool
It's not as morbid as it sounds, trust us. With the new fall TV season here, one of the interesting news stories is always which show becomes the first casualty. This year it was Fox's "Do Not Disturb," which got sent to the big busted TV in the sky earlier this week.
While we wait on the second TV show to get the ax, The Beehive crew attempted to go all Nostradamus with some predictions. Won't you join us?
Heather: "Kath & Kim." I have no idea what it's about -- all I know is it's an American adaptation of an Australian show, and that we're supposed to believe Selma Blair is fat and Molly Shannon is funny. I think most viewers will stick to something believable, like "Lost."
Rick: "Gary Unmarried." It has two things going against it. Paula Marshall is a show killer. And the complete lack of any comedy. It should be called "Gary Unfunny." The only thing that might save it is the fact it is on CBS. This is a network that let "Yes Dear" run for years without delivering a single chuckle.
Kathy: I have two: "My Own Worst Enemy" because NBC can't seem to make up its mind how to promote the show, which to me translates to them not knowing what the show is about. And, CBS' The Mentalist because a show about an guy who is observant sounds really boring.
Felicia: "Knight Rider." Thought the premise was dumb the first time around in the 1980s. Bringing it back just spotlights the dearth of originality in TV land.
Will: "The Ex List". Because viewers won't be able to forget it's the crazy chick from "Grey's Anatomy." They'll be thinking the whole time, "Wow, her face really does look like it was rebuilt," and be so distracted that they'll change the channel. Either that, or they'll be thinking, "What is the dude from 'That Thing You Do' doing with his career?"
Mike: It probably won't happen, but I'm going with "Worst Week," because I thought it was that un-funny. After watching 15 minutes of its wannabe slapstick, I've built a full-on grudge against this show. But, as Rick pointed out, being on CBS helps "Worst Week" -- especially with that cushy slot behind all those Monday night comedies. I'm still crossing my fingers.

Comments:
I gotta go with Fox's "Hole in the Wall." That show sucks...certain things work in Japan, I get it. But others get lost in translation.

Is Hole in the Wall still on? Seriously that show can't last more than 2 episodes.
I'm a bit worried about Fringe. I like it, but I don't see it lasting that much longer.

I'm totally hoping Kathy is wrong about "The Mentalist." TV needs more Simon Baker!

There are some good choices there, especially Kath & Kim, but how about Private Practice, the Grey's Anatomy spinoff. Is this really necessary?

The Fringe. They tried to squeeze the entire summary of The X-Files into their series premiere.

I can't buy into Selma Blair being fat and Molly Shannon being funny.
A fat Molly Shannon ( or no Molly Shannon) and a funny Selma Blair?? no you have something.

God, I wish one of the old shows would die. Til Death? Two and a Half Men?
