David Letterman remembers his racing buddy Paul Newman
Apparently it's not all vitriol and rants with Dave Letterman. Here he is fondly remembering time spent ruining car engines thanks to his friend Paul Newman.
There's still a little vitriol left, though:

Very cool tribute, thanks.
..now, Heather,
You strike me as being somewhat of a fast girl...
(um, let me rephrase that...)
You strike me as being a woman who likes to go fast..
(okay, wait... one more time,)
If there was ever a woman who struck me as the sort who enjoys strapping in,
grabbing the shifter,
punching the throttle and slamming that baby all the way from 1st to 5 and redline?
-that would be you.
(I bet you've even hang 'em a foot or two off the deck once in a while, didn'tja...?)
Yep...
something tells me that once you've completely brought it to full song,
have hit the traps
-and are now all pressed up hard against the belts
feeling your backside catch up with you,
just floating along
eventually to hit the return road,
you're like...
'...that was great, lets do it again.'
(redheads)
The car that Letterman is describing?
Does all that on regular gas.
It's bascially a Volvo 740 wagon (big, ugly, boxy, comfortable, with a penchant for blowing their main motor seals,)
with a Mustang 5.0 small block 8 transferred to it.
(You don't have to have a puffer
(supercharger=blown)
you can simply get injected
(or if you want, throw a 4bbl on it and breathe regular...)
It's actually one of the easiest conversions to do, you pretty much need to just widen one hole (in the firewall) drop that drivetrain in, and you're good to go.
---and it's not that expensive.
The guy who makes them also has a kit and they're called 'Fjords.'
-See ya layin' rubber out on Copper some night, kid.
-E
