You wouldn't like David Letterman when he's angry
Hey, John McCain: If you say you're going to appear on Dave Letterman's show, and you cancel at the very last minute to gallantly rush off to save the economy, and you don't send your spokesmodel running mate to fill in, and Letterman catches you live on air with Katie Couric instead, chances are your ass is going to be put on blast in front of a national audience.
By the way, is paying $5500 for a makeup artist your way of saving the economy? It's a good start, Senator!

Comments:
"He's now on Rachel Ray's show making veil picatta." Brilliant.
I think we need to get one of our mayoral candidates to bug out of a scheduled interview so we can blast them for nine minutes...That would be so much fun.
Letterman is a stud and my sarcastic hero. I'm waiting for his Top 10 List of things John McCain would rather do than be on Letterman's show.

"Hey John, need a ride to the airport?" God I love Letterman.
McCain is such a joke. He couldn't win the nomination in 2000, losing to W. Now he's the Republican's best hope? Yeah good luck with that.

I love it when Heather gets all political.

I'm sure if Barack Obama cancelled an appearance, and Joe Biden was not sent to fill in as well, David would have more of an understanding, he could always air classic interviews during that time. Letterman hates Republicans just like most of the Hollywood Left. He's just trying to win over the Air America crowd just like Mr. Blowolbermann.

co-sign Abel's comment.
of course Obama's supporters will say Obama would never cancel an appearance.
:::::exits before mccain's request to postpone the debate comes up:::::

What do you mean by "You Wouldn't Like David Letterman When He's Angry"? I loved him being angry. That was hilarious.
On a side note, is it just me or has Katie Couric had some work done? Her eyes are as big and wide as HOmer SimpsOn's.

im starting to feel bad for mccain. i know, i know ... the president should feel bad for me, but this doesnt seem fair.
while lettermen's bit was funny, and the video i posted yesterday about obama's supporters was awesome, i think we here at the beehive should work overtime trying to find something where obama looks bad getting his makeup done or pulling what some are calling a political stunt.
you know, to be fair.

Will if you want to find something on Obama you better hop to it. Don't tell other people to do things when you are fully capable.

Well so far I think it is much harder to find such stupid things Obama has done.
I'm not saying he's the perfect candidate or anything, but in such a closely scrutinized situation, the Obama crew seems to have played their cards better so far.

Not a big fan of Letterman but that was pretty damn funny. To bad about Paul Shaffer's unfunny ass.....

What I want to know is where's the CBS love! I mean doesn't CBS carry both Letterman and Couric. This whole drop out, no show deal, is beginning to get old.
In the end, who really cares! Either way you look at it, we're going to either have Grey Davis or "Arnie" and we know how the lesser of two evils idea plays out...
This is another political ploy!

Though if it was a ploy to get a talk-show host to spend almost 10 minutes of his 50 minute program talking about you... and have it run on every news network the next day... brilliant!

dear Ellipsis, thank you for the kind (and totally appropriate) advice.

anyone have the youtube clip of roosevelt acting all presidential during the depression? you know the one joe biden's been plugging.
oh wait, we only bag on republicans here. give me a break. if your throw some political jabs, on this non-political blog, at least be a little more balanced than keith olberman.

This is where Letterman is at his best! (Besides asking beautiful guests like Catherine Zeta: "Soooo--just what do you and Michael do on the weekends?") We all still miss Johnny- the BEST their ever was, but let's face it, Letterman is the only host on television who can pummel those 'Don Rickle's like comments and have a guest show up a week later, still feeling loved!!!!

I'll draw attention to anyone who does anything funny or noteworthy - celebrity, politician, late night talk show host or anyone else in the public eye, regardless of which way they (or I) vote.
But to answer Will and Bobby, I quote from Best Week Ever:
"For you commenters who feel outraged about the fact that we don’t make fun of Barack Obama for doing sh*t like this: it’s because Barack Obama doesn’t do sh*t like this."

OK, so I guess not visiting our troops during his foreign tour does not count as not doing s#!t like this. He is no perfect than John McCain, Dave's just pissed because he couldn't get a shot at McCain like everybody else is. Now you see why Leno is #1, he will be missed next year.
