arrow Sammy Hagar's coming to Fresno ... wait, no he's not

WKD FIVEQS SAMMY HAGAR.JPG

Even before Cabo Wabo opened it doors in Fresno, one of the big questions surrounding the cantina has been, "When is Sammy Hagar coming?"

If you've been following the comments here on The Hive, you might have thought there was finally an answer -- but now it looks like that's not the case.

In a recent interview (go to 3:55), Sammy himself said he'd be in Fresno on Sept. 15. Fresno Wabo started selling tickets for the event over the weekend -- priced $150-$250 -- but today it looks like his appearance has been canceled.

Sammy posted an item today on his blog at redrocker.com, saying he's been recording, is on a roll and is "sorry to say that I won't be making it to the New Fresno Cabo Wabo as previously planned. However, I will be there sometime this year for sure!"

I haven't been able to reach Fresno Wabo developer Milt Barbis for any further details. I did call Cabo Wabo and talk to a manager, who confirmed that the show is canceled and that he had "a lot of refunding" to do.

I'll keep you updated on any developments.

Comments:

Yet Sammy was on KMJ last week saying he would be at the club. Though he said it was Sept. 16, when he was on the radio. I don't know if it was a phone interview, but to me it sounded like he was in studio. Which means he was here last week.

Maybe you've posted this in previous blogs and i missed it or something, but i was told that Milt said that the RHCP (or a couple members of?) and Slash would be playing the club in the next month or so...any truth to this? I'm having a hard time finding any kind of "calendar" online for the place...

Tweed:
I haven't heard that specifically, though I have heard the RHCP names tossed around when they talk about Sammy's friends "dropping in."

I'll add that to my list of things to try to get some info on.

Stop flaking on us Sammy! Maybe Fresno Wabo should just get Gary Cherone to come out and call it a day.

nice, niiiice...

...never have considered using the word 'douche,' I mean, even in it's proper context of femenine hygiene... (not that it comes up in general conversation, but then again, stranger things have happened...)

I'm sort of mystified and grossed out by it's sudden rise to promenance...
(particularly among women...
I mean,
I know guys can be total degenerates and use disgusting terminology for no apparent reason, but ladies too?

Whole thing's just 'nasty...

Shows lack of breeding, and that anyone with a keyboard and a desire to get attention at any cost,
---can and will use any words possible...

sad, actually.

Yo WT, if you're going to be a douchebag, you just shouldn't comment at all. ZINNNGG!

nice, niiiiiiiiiice...

I'm just kind of fascinated (for like, 5 minutes,) with this:

Ya see,

-in the land of insults (and word origins?)

The derrogatory word for a male is a
'scumbag,' (which is, as I'm sure you're VERY familiar with -a condom. (condom worn by a male, though less popular, and less used, females have condoms available too.)

'Douchebag'
-origionally was a derrogatory term used towards a woman,
---or (if you are going to be mysogenistic)
-- a term 'lower,' than a scumbag,
---when used as a 'feminine' derrogatory remark towards a male...
(sorta like calling a guy a 'bitch,'
--it's more offensive, somehow, to feminize a male.)

Which gives rise to some really intersting facts about the user of the term...

I mean, personally?

If I were a woman, (much less a lady,) I'd be kind of offended that somebody thought it a GREATER insult to 'feminize,' the remark, (again, 'scumbag' is bad, 'douchebag' is worse...)

Which is (also) why it's so baffling when women use it...
I mean,
(maybe I'm old... maybe just from a more civilized world,
---maybe it's my upbringing,
I mean, it wasn't just that girls didn't talk like that, People in general just didn't.)

---but when you called somebody a 'douche,' or 'douchebag,' it was totally demeaning towards the person,
---and really offensive to any women in earshot...

(like seriously, who among us would use the word 'douchebag,' around our grandmothers, aunts, our Mom, --or younger sister, niece, or daughter,
---and NOT be considered a total lowlife ignorant animal with no degree of respect towards woman, or ourselves???)
(don't need a show of hands...)

(I mean, not that 'douching' is a horrendous thing...
-the AMA doesn't really recommend it to excess,
as (when done vaginally,) it can really mess up the body's natural PH and chemistry,
--and lead to worse problems...
(which can be also kind of true in other areas (nasal douching, ear douching, (basically warm water and cleansing agent passed into a canal or body cavity to rinse it out... (or, if you're french speaking, showering in general.)

But usually, it's meant in the manner that most prurient derrogatory terms focus on:

Desicrating Reproductive organs,
in this case the female ones (which is pretty unfortunate, as,
well,
reproducing
(IE: having kids, and the body parts to do so,)
Is pretty cool, (guys can't do it, and guys, being imbeciles that often will reach for the first 'sacred,' thing that they cannot do, (and turn it into an insult,) usually go for something that accomplishes two things: being gross, and putting women down.)

---Sorry, but I think women in general (also) are pretty excellent and amazing by design, (-should they have kids or not,) and consider it a real insult to pick on those areas that are unique and excellent about women.

(And Usually?
-most women have a lot more class and respect than to want to be summed by their girl parts...

I mean, how acceptable are the other derrogatory remarks deriving from other uniquely female body parts (or male, for that matter?
(I doubt the 'Bee Censors' would allow them...)

Yet, 'Douche' is just representin'in the 'hood,(er, 'no) and folks' be running around using it like they found a new word, that makes them look cool, hip, and swingin' in a totally groovy kind of way,,,(thank you, Greg Brady...)

Any guy using it?
-deserves to be smacked in the head by any woman hearing it,(like maybe his mother, though any woman would do,) and known as a foul mouthed pervert.
(That is if the woman has half a clue and understands what is going on...)

Like I said, I'm from a different era...

But,,, back on topic?

Ya know?
I doubt I'll ever go to Cabo-Wabo...

It seems to be a silly place,
-and it also seems like Hagar is avoiding Fresno...

WT!!!! that was a great summarization on why not to use the D word.
Kudos.

...yep, funny how studying medical terminology makes a fella less squeamish... (though I don't know if that was all table-talk...)

-and I like,
SO hope your knee is feeling better...
(gotta watch those knees, tricky bastids that they are... ---and besides, you got cute ones...

Do NOT push the recouperation process (like, cartilidge takes way longer to heal than bone (no blood vessels in there's why.)

-holla if you need anything (I'm serious.)

I recognized a dancer from City Lights there as a manager, Assistant GM to be exact from our servers mouth and heard they have employees quitting on a daily basis due to the working conditions and paychecks being wrong. That was the word from our server when asked how she liked the place. If I was Sammy I would be in Fresno alot sooner, due to a club with his name attached having problems. Never mind the performance, If the place goes under due to bad management he won't have place to play, and all the talk about him coming is pointless.

That is exactly what will happen, too! Very good point, John.

""I recognized a dancer from City Lights there as a manager, Assistant GM to be exact from our servers mouth""

LOL!!! is this the same assistant GM that i read about in another Cabo Wabo thread on the beehive. go check out the other threads on Cabo Wabo. you'll get a kick out of the story about the assistant GM. it all makes sense now, she's a stripper. i need to go back soon.

here's the story on the assistant GM that John mentioned in the other Cabo thread:

"When our server approached her manager which we could see from where we were sitting. The manager motioned like she didn't want any part of having to come over to talk to us. When she finally did although not happy in having to do so, she was to say the least very unprofessional and lacked people skills, and this was supposed to be the ASSISTANT GM. at least she remembered her title which she didn't let us forget."

LOL!!!!
