Five Things You Should Do This Week ...
As you protest ABC's National Stay At Home Week ...
1. Feel the Pain: Planet Asia and DJ Muggs are in town today to promote their collabo album, "Pain Language." DJ Muggs is the beatmaker for Cypress Hill and Asia, of course, is Fresno's most famous rapper.
He spends most of his time in L.A. these days, but today Asia and Muggs are here for an in-store at 5 p.m. at Sugarhill, then performing at 9 p.m. at Starline.
Here's a Q & A with Planet Asia from last Friday's paper that talks about the new project and his partnership with Muggs. To get a feel for what they're doing together, you can get a free download of "Pain Language: The Mixtape" at soulassassins.com.
2. Rock with Rancid: Rancid hasn't played a headlining show in Fresno in 12 years. Sure, there's been some Warped Tour stops, and frontman Tim Armstrong has been here with other bands, but there hasn't been a Rancid-headed show in a long time. That changes tonight, as the band plays at Rainbow Ballroom. Guana Batz and Danny Diablo are also on the bill. Tickets are still available.
3. Get Romantic: Luis Miguel -- Latin crooner and heartthrob -- is back at Save Mart Center on Wednesday night. Take your mom or your girlfriend.
4. Hail The Cab: Vegas rock/soul band The Cab -- part of the Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen family that includes Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco and Cobra Starship -- is at The Exit on Thursday, finishing off a headlining jaunt before taking off on the "Rock Band Live" tour with Panic at The Disco and Dashboard Confessional. You can check out The Cab's music here and don't forget to read my Q & A with Alex Marshall.
5. Drink some funky alphabet soup: If you dig Maroon 5 and other funky rock, then check out Portland band NIAYH, performing Thursday at Club Fred. Go check out "Rock" -- which I dig -- on the band's MySpace to get a feel for what NIAYH is about.
If you checked out one of these events, tell us what you thought.

One thing I'll clarify for Dave (and any others):
We at The Bee still called it Club Fred because that's what the sign still says. They want to change the name to Audie's Olympic, but legally they can't because of their liquor license has the Club Fred name on it, there it's Club Fred for the time being.
A lot of people call it "Audie's" or "The Olympic" though.
Hopefully it'll be worked out after the year changes over.

Another little helpful tidbit:
The Olympic was the original name of Club Fred until Fred something-or-other came and changed it. With that name change came a really cool mural of the various "Freds" in history, Fred Sanford was my favorite.
This Fred something-or-other sold it to someone who sold it to Audie.
Audie painted over the mural, had the interior and exterior repainted and gave it a splash of hipness.
The "old" crowd has urged him to change the name back but of course, in keeping with the narccisitic tone of the bar, it has been dubbed Audie's Olympic.
