Chalke one up for "How I Met Your Mother"
At the end of last season on "How I Met Your Mother," Ted (Josh Radnor) had decided he was going to ask Stella (Sarah Chalke) to marry him. That's a big deal. If we know who Ted marries then there will be no need for the CBS comedy to continue.
There is a lot of speculation about what will happen. Many fans believe Ted and Stella should be together. That has a lot do with Chalke. She's one of those actresses who just seems to be having a good time when she is at work.
Production of season four started last week on stage 22 at the Fox lot. I was on the set to see the taping of what will be the first scene of the new season. I can tell you that the matter of the proposal is dealt with in that first episode.
And what exactly happened in that scene .....
.... you will have to wait until Sept. 22 to see when the new season starts.
During a break in filming the scene where Ted and Stella talk, Chalke and I chat about her being on the CBS comedy and still managing to continue her work on "Scrubs." NBC dumped "Scrubs" last year. But it returns later this year on ABC.
She's got time to do both shows. That's because there will be plenty of "Scrubs" episodes ready when the series returns.
"We have worked straight through from last year," a perky Chalke says. We are seated just a few feet away from the show's permanent bar set. "That means we have 14 of the 18 shows done."
Chalke was only supposed to be on "How I Met Your Mother" for one episode. But the response was so positive producers brought her back. On that first episode, since she plays a doctor on both series, she wore her "Scrubs" lab coat. A pocket protector covered her "Scrubs" name on the pocket.
The Canadian actress often gets asked about whether her character and Ted will wed. Chalke stresses she only knows what is happening in the current episode. And she has been hired for a minimum of four shows this year.
As for that big scene she just finished filming, Chalke is mum. The question is whether she is mom.
