The games continue
Filming of the locally-produced “T.R.A.C.K. Alive!’ continues this weekend. The crew of the potential television competition series, under the guidance of former Fresno High School track coach Julia Ann Dudley, will be at Woodward Park 7:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday. The public is invited to come out and watch athletes compete for prize money for their school or track club.
Dudley says generally the filming has gone well. There just have been a few problems along the way with injuries and finances.
“Track is not a glamorous sport so it has been hard to raise money for the show,” Dudley says after a filming session.
There have been a few other hitches. Only 15 of the original 52 competitors who advanced past the first round sent back their contracts in time. Dudley says they were the only athletes to sign their contracts in time. The show will address why only one-third of the original competitors are featured in the short series. Several of those who advanced from the tryouts in Las Vegas have voiced serious complaints about the program and its producers.
The series pits track athletes between the ages of 32 to 72 in a series of challenges to test them physically and mentally. Dudley says a deal is close to being made with the Ion Channel and the international syndicator BuzzTV.
The finals will be held Aug. 2 at Fresno Pacific College. That’s when members of the public can run against the competitors.
