arrow Keep your kids away from YouTube ... and Mariah Carey songs

I give you 11-year-old Dannyhott, a sort-of wannabe YouTube child star who sings the work of Leona Lewis, Danity Kane and good friend of The Beehive, Ms. Mariah Carey.

Seriously? This is what kids are doing with their free time these days? Parents are cool with this? I'm sure Danny's are hoping he becomes a star -- or at least the next Tay Zonday. Just look at his YouTube and MySpace pages.

I wonder what the Central Valley Moms think about this.

Here's the "Keep your kids away from YouTube and Lil Wayne" warning. Or else they might start doing stuff like this (Warning: NSFW)

Comments:

I have no problem with a kid trying to emulate his favorite singer, even one like Mariah if that is what he likes. But NO child should be singing this song, it just isn't right. I'm disgusted by few things and this was one of them.

Where in the hell are his parents at? Or are they the ones who encouraged this?

hahahaha ... oh, man, if i only had a camera at that age.

that was too funny. its like when the daily show has kids play the political talking-head pundits, and you see how ridiculous the real people actually sound. i thought of that when he was even imitating mariah's expressions.

again ... ahahhahahahaha

Looks to me like another case of life imitating art. Not surprising.

The solution, it seems to me, is to nurture artists who refuse to glorify anger and violence toward women, instead of giving these no-talent ass clowns big, fat record contracts and allowing their tripe to filter down to suburban America and kids like the ones in this post. Funny how this entry is related so closely to Mike's previous commentary on mainstream radio, huh?

At least he's not singing Divinyl's I touch myself"

As much as I hate music like this (and I use that term loosely), it's not the artist's (another term I use loosely here) responsibility to make kid friendly music. It is the parents job to raise their children and to prevent them from listening to garbage like this at a young age. Why should an artist change what they create because a parent fails? Could be considered another form of censorship.

My parents always took responsibility for anything I did and did everything they could to make sure I know what was right and wrong. And if I ever spawn a few kids I'll do the same.

Maybe I'm lame, but the wost thing about the DannyHott video is he uses the adult excuse for lazyness "...I was just too tired." What kind of kid is just too tired? Waaaaaaa, I'm an 11 year-old kid and I don't have the time and energy to learn my Mariah correctly.

Come on Danny! Stop being so %#@&in lazy and LEARN that *%@#. Lets gets some professionalism up in here, kid.

Kids have it easy today. With their fax machines, karoke, and 56k modems.

But yeah, the little brat is lazy. And annoying.

It's pure genius. This 11 year old kid just got more exposure on the Web than everyone linked in the comments...combined.
I don't have kids, but I know what I was able to accomplish in the time when I wasn't under direct observation by my parents. No parent can be expected to keep an eye on their kid 24/7, and most children understand WAY more technology than adults. To anyone who has a child, and thinks they know everything he/she does, I'll wager otherwise.
As for music, I guess not every kid can grow up on the cocaine/alcohol/sex-inspired "classics" of the 70s like I did.
The video is funny. It's okay to laugh.

Mike, this is wrong in so many ways that I don't know where to begin.

Anyone notice on the youtube that he has his singing turned into ringtones? Oh muh gawd!

you got a post on DLISTED.com. weeeeeee.
I loves me some Michael K.
did beehive Heather send this in?

it says..
I thank the Chicken Cutlet gods every day for not giving us YouTube when I was a kid. This would be me. The FresnoBeehive posted this video of 11-year-old Dannyhott, a YouTuber with a small following, singing Mimi's "Touch My Body." He probably has no idea what he's singing about, but it's still not right!

I didn't get through the whole video because the state of the room was starting to bother me. I want to scream at that boy, "Stop singing that ****and clean up!" I also had to stop watching because it was like looking at myself when I was 11. I mean, I would have added some moves to it, but still!

That being said, Chris Hansen, come get this boy!

Thanks Heather

I watched it after I got excited about the beehive being mentioned on Dlisted. My oldest boy turned 11.
He would rather die than listen to a Mariah Carey Song.
Ok.. so he would do a youtube version of Mambo Italiano, but thats just how he rolls.

Oh, I totally sent it in - ain't no shame in the promotion game.

Isn't that awesome, Celena? I seriously cried with joy, as Dlisted is my (second) favorite blog. It's a proud day for the Beehive - props to Mike Oz for doing such a great post.

It was like you both were touched by the hand of God.

I hope that you did a screen shot of it.

This video gave me a good laugh.. and yes, that was me at age 11 but I was singing really stupid songs I made up while home alone all summer.

And I had no internet with which to upload those wonderful little diddy's... thank God.
