arrow Did They Just Say Fresno? Flashback!

I am obsessed with a little television program called "Beverly Hills, 90210." Not the reincarnation (although, if they brought back Dylan McKay, I'd be all over it) - I'm talking about the old school, 90s hair, spandex- and chokers-wearing, Brandon-sideburn-having version.

It's on at 5 and 6 p.m. every week day on SoapNet, and I DVR both hours every single day, even if I am home to watch it live.

Tonight, I got a special treat when season 10's hot David Silver (Brian Austin Green, who now wears eyeliner for some reason) mentioned Fresno. Was it derogatory? Ehhh... not really. Okay, maybe a little. Or maybe that's my Fresnority Complex talking.

You decide:

Is it the best David Silver video ever? No, this is:

But it'll do.

Were the 90's like this? Seriously I don't remember.

I would drive all the way out to Firebaugh to see... Brodie Mash?

Any show with Tori Spelling on it couldn't have been any good, could it? I just don't get what the appeal of this show was. Pretty pathetic.

Suck it, Ashley.

Okay, okay. That wasn't nice. What I meant to say was:

S*** it, Ashley. "It" being my love for 90210, the best show ever.

Ashley there are two things you don't do on here. Make fun of 90210 or tell Hmac that the photo of her and Jim Halpert is photoshopped. Trust me.

Whoa, calm down. Tori Spelling playing one of the leads? HAHAHA. And for all that, what does she get from her dad? Jack sh...HAHA. Anyways, back to the original point. If Tori Spelling is one of your leads in a show, by definition, it can't possibly be any good. And where are their careers now? Brian Austin Green better pray 24 hours a day that Megan Fox doesn't dump his behind for good, because if not for that relationship, he literally would be a bum on the street asking for spare change. What a loser.

Ashley, you have officially won me over. Not only did you take my offensive response to your comment with grace, you've in turn made some valid points about both Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green. Well played, my friend.

Despite the current "pathetic" efforts on the part of the 90210 cast, the show remains for me television crack, mostly due to the nostalgia factor involved in watching it from ages 12 to 22. Also, Dylan McKay was really, really hot.

Aaaaw, c'mon, Brian Austin Green and Ian Zeiring were fantabulous as themselves in Domino.

1. Slow day in the blogosphere? Is a half assed (and yes, intentionally derogatory) reference to Fresno appearing on a washed-up teen soap from over a decade ago really a big enough deal to post a whole blog entry about it? Hmmmmm...

2. Ashley, the 90's were a totally different time. 90210 is hardly different from a daytime soap, and most of those are garbage to this day. I'll give you Tori Spelling (heinous to look at), but 90210 was good entertainment if totally cheesy. It is what it is.

3. Ed...catch up with the celeb gossip. Fox & BAG are still together...I believe the word that was quoted was "solid" on Perez Hilton.

Peace in the middle east!

A call for peace in the middle east after displaying complete douchebaggery online? Danielle is one complicated person.

Howabout we work on peace in this thread before we worry about the Middle East?

Nah, nevermind. This is too entertaining.

I don't think expressing my opinion warrants being called names, nor as a fellow writer in the Fresno media industry, do I find it very professional. I guess that's what happens when you ask a question about a chosen blog topic around here. My bad...have a nice day, Heather.

danielle,
i'll do better next time. i am sure that i heard bag and fox broke up, but perhaps they rekindled that lost loving feeling.

Just my two cents on this, Danielle ....

Back to your first comment: The "Did They Just Say Fresno?" series is something we do around here. We like to catalog Fresno references, whether washed-up teen soap or viral video or Dwight K. Schrute.

It has nothing to do with the speed of news -- rather our dedication to all things Fresno.

Thanks Mike, I didn't know...I guess ignorance does imply a certain sense of "douchebaggery"...and in that case, I've got tons for this column!

hahahaha

Oh, I loved me some 90210, even if I was a tad too old for it. Though, it lost it's shine when Brenda left. I just don't remember much of it after that.
But, I have to say... seeing Ian Zeiring's fuzzy blond mullet is truly painful. Much more painful than anything Tori Spelling... she's a shining beacon of soft for the eyes after looking at his head.

i may be wrong, but i think Danielle meant to be sarcastic when she said "peace in the middle east".
get it, guys? a throw-back from the 90's when 90210 was hip and Desert Storm was in full effect?

and i love the original 90210 too much to watch the new version.
what a joke. its going to suck so bad and any story line they come up with will never hold a candle to the Brenda/Dylan/Kelly saga.

oh and Heather, admitting your DVR abuse is the first cry for help. step away from the remote.
