arrow And now an update from CBS

The Television Critics Association tour is winding toward the end. Today, stars and executives from CBS took centerstage. The big discussion centered on the impending departure of William Petersen from "CSI." He will be in the first 10 episodes of this year before leaving the crime drama.

CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler says no one has been cast to replace Petersen. But she did say the character would be a doctor who has DNA that carries the same characteristics of serial killers. He will have to deal with that as he rises to the head of the Las Vegas CSI department.

It sounds a lot like "Dexter." Maybe Michael C. Hall will be the replacement.

Here are a few other tidbits from CBS:

Jay Mohr was unable to meet with the critics to talk about his new show "Gary Unmarried." He was on the other side of the globe renewing his wedding vows. That was bad timing. The new show won't get a lot of publicity when it launches in the fall.

Tessler says the reason most people were upset with the cancellation of "Moonlight" had little to do with the show about vampires. She says people weer upset about the departure of Alex O'Loughlin from the CBS schedule. The CBS boss says she would welcome a chance to work with him again. She could have kept "Moonlight" on the air and not had to wait.

Katie Couric told critics she had no plans to leave her job as the host of the "CBS Evening News." She thinks all of the grumbling about her poor ratings was of more interest to TV critics than the average viewer.

Look for Jason Alexander to make a guest appearance on "Criminal Minds." Don't look for "The Power of 10" anytime soon.

"Scrubs" star Sarah Chalke is scheduled to make several appearances on the CBS comedy 'How I Met Your Mother." Odds are she is not the mother.
