Note: This is the second in The Beehive's week-long series of profiles about the Smog City Roller Grrls, leading up to the team's bout this Saturday against the Prison City Derby Dames. We're introducing you to a different Smog City grrl each day.
Today, we'd like you to meet Hari Kari.

QUESTIONS
When and why did you become a Roller Grrl?
It all began two years ago in August. I saw it and just had to join. I didn't want to be a "roller girl" as much as I wanted to play roller derby.
What's the meaning behind your roller derby name?
Long story short about my name, Hari Kari, is that it's the American-ized version of the word hara kiri. Samurai's would commit "hara kiri" (suicide) by their own sword, rather than be defeated by they opposition.
What are the most challenging and most rewarding parts of roller derby?
The most challenging thing about playing this sport is that I feel like a stunt double who doesn't get paid, except for the sweet reward of simply playing derby.
What other sports do you/would you play?
I wouldn't play any other sport
What's your life like outside of roller derby?
I do hair for a living and love the local art and music scene.
What kind of reaction do you get from people when they find out you're involved in roller derby?
The reaction that people usually give depends on the individual, but they're mostly stoked to hear it's still going on, and in Fresno.
What's the worst injury you've gotten in roller derby?
Worst injury so far was being knocked unconscious at a bout.
Who talks the best smack on the team?
The person who talks the most smack is the girl who says nothing. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak.
Do you find yourself throwing elbows in line at Starbucks sometimes?
I don't throw elbows in Starbucks lines, but I love moving through big crowds as though I'm jamming.
What's it like after bouts when people want your autograph?
The sweetest thing was the mesmerized eyes of the little girls wanting their pictures taken with us. Love it.

I love Mo!!!! Seriously, i love and deeply respect her. If i wasnt married to Toni 2 Tone, i'd romance and woo Hari Kari til she got sick of the songs and roses and finally give in. She is my polar opposite and yet i'm drawn to her like a magnet. Plus, she's such a silent storm, she'll kick your ass, go to the hospital and sip a cocktail all in less than 2 hours!
