I used to work with two separate Vet facilities back east.

And they were always operating on pets, patching them up, and stuff,
-having to amputate a limb was not that unheard of, and each vet had a cat that they had rescued, but had a leg removed.

One called his cat 'Tri-pod,' (okay, not too mysterious there.)

The other?

'Thud.'
