arrow A post totally unrelated to Wet Towel

Unless he comments, of course.

Via Very Short List: The Florida Sun-Sentinel recently put together a nifty little project of the worst album covers (remember those?) in the universe. They came up with 50 top contenders. The scary thing is that I think my parents owned some of them. Here's my favorite:

On the jump: Three more horrific examples.

That is really worth a few minutes of time just to check those out. My favorite was the handless organist. It might be interesting to see the release dates on all of those albums -- a pattern might emerge.

My folks didn't own any of these, but they DID own the album on which the first is a spoof. "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" -- featuring a fetching lass strategically covered with you-know-what -- was the cover of a Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass album.

And Tommy Seebach is obviously Tony Orlando's illegit brother.

There's a book that I got a couplefew years back as a gift:
"Horrifically Bad Album Covers" by Nick DiFonzo. It sits with a few other books by my bedside....no matter how bad your day was, within about 2 minutes you will be chuckling outloud.---there's about 200 expamples in the book.

re: "Whipped Cream & other Delights".....
two thoughts: an extremely sexy album cover--way to go Herb Albert!...AND, speaking from the experience of countless hours over many years thumbing through used LP's in record shops and thrift stores.....along with "Frampton Comes Alive", it's the album you are most likely to happen upon.
(Logo's..the book/record store on Pacific in Santa Cruz used to (still does?) have tacked up an entire wall of this cover and it's many bad spin-offs.)
