The Office: "Did I Stutter?" adminsters the fluffy fingers to my funny bone

Knowing that I'm usually not in tune with other people when it comes to the degrees of "The Office" funniness, I'm going to throw my opinion of last night's episode right out there and wait for the hailstorm of "Heather, you're trippin"s to come back at me:

It was awesome. Much to the dismay of my neighbors, the episode actually made me shriek with laughter a number of times, and I think that has to do with the entire episode taking place at the actual office - in my opinion, the episodes get exponentially less funny when the action ventures outside of Dunder Mifflin.

Highlights from "Did I Stutter?":

  • Dwight's manhandling of Andy during the Xterra sale: "It will be towed by a donkey."
  • Dwight's attempted manhandling of Michael: rubbing his face with the pointer and saying: "Five. Four. Three. Two. Now. Now. Now."
  • Darryl's gang affiliations: Bloods, crips. "The Latin Kings. The Warriors. Newsies."
  • Creed's blind jazz cats speech: "I'd like to put the piano in front of Pam, without her glasses, and see what happens. I'd also like to see her topless."

What didn't I like? Ryan and Toby ganging up on Jim Halpert. Toby is losing it, and, (spoiler!) if you look at the title of the May 15 season finale, you can guess what's going on there.

I also hated Michael's drawn out, comics-from-the-past-three-decades tribute at the end of the episode. If the camera is on Michael Scott for more than ten seconds, it's on him too long, says I.

If you can handle sitting through the commercials, check out deleted scenes from the episode at NBC.com. Oh, and if you're in the market for a car, you can buy Andy Bernard's Xterra on eBay, which you can then drive off a cliff or donate to a person you'd like to see die in a car crash.

I'm such a bad Office fan. I haven't watched in a few weeks, but I did catch this one. It made me laugh too. I was trying to think of the spots that made me laugh but weren't on your list, and the only ones I can think of are when Michael tells Pam she looks ugly, and when Kevin asks Pam to say "These books are due on Thursday."

Heather, you are not trippin'.
That was some good Office.
Again, Dwight killed it.

I agree with you on the part of how the episodes get less funny as they do things outside the office. Just had this discussion with a co-worker yesterday.

you know what, i just realized that i was wrong about something. i was telling people last night that stanley was getting a spin off from the office, and it seemed that last night's episode was the send off.

but, as i thought today, i remembered that it cleveland from family guy that is getting a spin off.

the office was funny last night. especially dwight. i appreciate how dwight has gone from being the butt of all the jokes and is now driving the humor. it's still odd humor, but funny stuff.

I'm so with you, Heather. It was an excellent episode and I was in constant laughter. And the whole episode actually took place IN THE OFFICE! Imagine that! Darryl giving Michael gang advice was my favorite scene from the whole episode.

I think Stanley telling Michael that he didn't respect him was a solid moment for me. As I sat there, I wish I had told an old boss those very same words, shoot, maybe I'll look up his number in the phone book and call him...

The Office is like real life!!!

"Fluffy"? "Bone"?? My goodness...that bordered on...on...prurient!
Anywhoo...I've never seen an episode of the Americanized Office. Loved the BBC version (the episode where David Brent thinks he can solve everybodys problems with his guitar is brilliant), but for some reason I've never gotten around to this one. Judging by the devotion displayed here, apparently I'm missing something...

Mr. Incognito, you bring up something I didn't even touch on - Stanley and Michael. I was so worried that when they faced off Michael would try to tickle Stanley. Thankfully, that didn't happen, but I liked their moment together - Stanley telling Michael he doesn't respect him, and Michael having the dignity (for once) to simply say, "It doesn't matter because I'm the boss, and you have to treat me like the boss."

I like the moments where Michael stops being needy and pathetic and acts like a grow-up (mostly because they're so rare).

Watch the British version...not a bad episode in the bunch. Ricky Gervais is comedic genius.

if i wanted to feel uncomfortable i would watch any of the many lame dramas on TV right now. what is going on??? Ryan vs. Jim, Stanley vs. Michael. I'm sorry but there is no room for that crap in "The Office". seriously...
True, the rest of the episode was pretty damn funny. But i just don't think they are back on same track from before the strike.
