Gorham's future is not 'Ugly'
The second season of ABC's "Ugly Betty" ended with a cliffhanger. Betty (America Ferrera) faced the tough decision of choosing between two men. Henry (Christopher Gorham) asked Betty to marry him. Gio (Freddy Rodríguez) wanted to travel to Italy with Betty.
What's a girl to do?
If you are making bets, don't pick the marriage proposal. At this point, Gorham, a Fresno native, is not scheduled to be on season three. And Rodríguez is also not scheduled to return. These changes are part of a revamping of the series to swing the focus more back to the workplace. As part of the changes, the series moves from being shot in Los Angeles to New York.
The show can make all the changes it wants. The loss of Gorham is a mistake.
Gorham's goofy Henry gave the series a sweet element that was a nice balance to all the bitterness. Sure Betty is sweet. It just was nice she had some help from Gorham's character.
This is the latest one-year job for Gorham. He starred in "Jake 2.0," "Medical Investigation" and "Out of Practice." None of those series lasted for more than one season. You have to go all the way back to "Popular" to find a show that was Gorham’s biggest television hit.
It is a shame Gorham can not find that one project that will establish him as a star. Besides being one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, he’s got talent. He’s shown that through dramas, comedies and even the dramedy of "Ugly Betty." All Gorham needs is the right series and his career will skyrocket.
"Ugly Betty" could have become such a role. But he needed more than one year. The only upside of Gorham not going back is he could land a job on another show that might finally give him the attention he deserves.

Comments:
i loved the show where Henry and Gio were competing in the bar to see who could get the most phone numbers from chicks. They wanted to prove that the theories of "Tap That" were correct. I've been wanting to try those theories out but I'll get slapped quicker than you can say "what's your phone number?"

I didn't know Gorham was from Fresno. Well, it's obvious Betty won't leave her boss, so my bet is she isn't going to AZ. And I'm not really sure we should be so certain that that will lead her to Italy with Gio...I think she's going to go off without either of them.
Love the show, can't wait till it's back next season.

Sir, no disrespected intended, but you have no cited sources for your speculation. I don't think you should jump to conclusions until the S3 cast list has been released by ABC, which I don't believe it has yet. I think it's irresponsible to post something like this without cited sources. Thank you.

Did it ever occur to you that, regardless where you got your information, the Exec Prod, is trying to keep the season 2 cliffhanger intact?
For a little more accurate information, here is a direct quote from an interview in the very reliable Chicago Tribune with showrunner, Exec Prod Silvio Horta: “Betty’s got a choice to make. I can’t say which [romantic interest] is or isn’t going to be coming back,”
Further comment from the interviewer, Maureen Ryan: "Horta said that despite the move, all of “Ugly Betty’s” regular cast members will be part of the third season.

For me, I hope that means 1 line explaining where Henry is or at the most very clear dialogue why he is the wrong choice. Really, the actor should leave before this role completely turns off the viewing public, ruining him for any future projects.
I do hope it occurs to your readers that a blog is nothing more than one person's opinion. Hey, I could be just as wrong, but either way you gotta love under-informed reporting, don't ya?

Curious, you mention that both Gorham and Rodriguez won't be coming back. Don't see how that's possible, since she's obviously going to have to address the situation of who she does or doesn't pick in the first episode. Gio still works in NY, he's only going to be gone for a month, so unless over the summer he happens to move away forever, I think its pretty safe to say that he will be back for at least the first few episodes.
Chris, I'm not so sure, but they definately wouldn't just leave the proposal hanging IMO.
Do you have any sources for this article?, you write like its a sure thing.

I agree, he will be greatly missed! Gorham added that extra something special to the show. He does have a lot of talent and I hope to see him getthe lead in a show real soon, because I do enjoy watching him. I feel one of his best roles (other than Henry) was Jake 2.0. He also did a great job with Popular. Hurry back to the screen,Chris!!

If this is true, I think it is one of the worst mistakes that ABC could make. I was okay with the show backing away from Betty's romantic life, but you are correct that Henry provides a much needed sweetness to the show. He is an amazing actor and, other than a few scenes with Michael Urie and Ana Ortiz, all of my favorite scenes from the show include him. Oh well, if this is true, guess my Thursday nights just opened up.
